No Gas inside a vehicle?? Really??
I forgot about this but some of you old guys must remember the old trucks. This is a factory Ford F100 factory FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. Talking about rare. And guess where the gas tank is, right behind the seat. Did that many people die in fiery crashes when these in cab tanks were around?? This is a really cool truck.

My first truck was a 1964 F100. Never had a problem with the gas tank behind the seat. No seat belts, either! It's a wonder I wasn't killed.:-)

Had a 1960 gmc every time you filled it it smelled and the seat was high and forward . Solved it with two stainless beer kegs in the bed and an Oldsmobile bench seaT. But yeah I didn’t care for sitting with the gas . Also no seatbelts it’s a wonder I’m here the way I drove it when I was 17 .

I had an old 57 Chevy pick up,6 cylinder with the gas tank behind the seat that I drove for years.The gas smell inside the cab got worse than usual and I found that the rubber on the gas tank straps had worn through letting the metal strap make contact with the tank thus rubbing a hole in the bottom of the tank.With little money or I.Q. I removed the tank,flushed then filled it with water and welded the hole,cut a piece of tire to put between the strap and tank and put everything back together and never thought twice about having 20 gallons or so of explosive liquid in the cab with me.In those days I still smoked cigarettes and rode around with a smoldering Camel in an old truck cab full of gas fumes and somehow still made to the ripe old age I am now.

I hate to bring in new-fangled ideas, but I don't want a gas tank in the cab of my vehicle. Call me a nerd but it seems dangerous.

Yep I had several but the filler neck and vent were out side the cab if you smelled gas that was on you to fix it leaking hose or connection
and unlike a gas can getting flipped over unseen in the back of a van if the trucks gas tank was flipped upside down you were in a world of hurt any way

MY first burned to death fatalities came in a 1967 Chevy pickup that flipped upside down , slid several hundred feet and came to rest upside down on fire

We had a '67 GMC bought new at Christmas 1966. Fuel tank behind the seat. Never leaked until a guy unloading a Marlin Model 17 pump 12 ga. accidentally shot it with a round of no. 4 buckshot after a fox hunt.

Gas inside is fine, if the container is sealed and/or only vents to the outside.

I must say, I have worked many hundreds of wrecks as a paramedic. Looking back, I was surprised at how few wrecked cars catch fire. It is not like in the movies.
Maybe one in two hundred catches fire in real life.

Why do you sissies fear immolation as a cause of death? Ten gallons of gas blowing up right behind you would be a quick end. My 1972 Chevy had a gas tank behind the seat, that was the least of my worries.

I drug a guy out of a burning plane wreck in September of '87. He survived, but just barely. Having witnessed that I can guarandamntee you that it does not look like a good way to go.
