Good to know I saved the bags for years. Where did you see those prices?

I hear you. The price of lead shot has really made it cost prohibitive to reload shotgun for at least 5 years now.

Why bother with it when I can buy brand new Remington STS ammo for nearly similar cost.

I about stopped when lead shot hit $15 a bag- now it is more like $50 a bag.

first two to come up after google were linked to E-barf, and then something called Etsy, not sure if they were selling for that price, but it is what they were asking for em and one was $7.40 shipping for empty bag!!!!!!

I buy shot from our local club for $30/bag. The shot was reclaimed, and re dropped, so there was no money for material, only the labor of "re building" it. Anywhere else, new shot can't be found for under $45/bag around here.

Ebarf has a no ammo, ammo making or ammo anything policy. So...advertise that you are selling an "empty" bag, wink, wink and there you have it. You have appeased the censors and actually sell a full bag. Its a work around that sellers can use and ebarf can turn a blind eye. They get their cut and can claim the high ground.

Check ebarf for Bourbon County Stout. Same thing. No one actually buys an empty beer bottle.

They for sure are not going to ship a full bag of shot for $7, Ive found some of the cloth bags are collectible.

The U.S. closed it's last lead smelter in 2013:

    The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports:

About 145 employees of the Doe Run lead smelter [in Herculaneum, Missouri] learned they will lose their jobs at the end of December because of the plant’s closure, the Doe Run Co. said Wednesday. An additional 73 contractor jobs also will be eliminated.

The job cuts were expected. The plant, which has operated for more than a century and is the lone remaining lead smelter in the United States, announced in 2010 that it will cease operations at the end of this year (2013).

The EPA exerted massive pressure to close this remaining smelter which left only, guess who (China) as a resource for all of our smelting. And who to thank? Take a guess.

    Best.
