cabelas ammo report this morning
I was picking up a shotgun at the Cabelas in Mitchell SD and was the 3rd one in the door when they opened.
They had a total of 13 boxes of centerfire ammo, all uncommon calibers. If memory is working they were 350 Legend, 35 Remington, 218 Bee. That was all there was in the entire store.
There was zero rimfire ammo.
Guy working told me they are just getting in a trickle, no large quantities. No .223, 7.62, 9mm, 45 acp comes in.
What they do get goes fast.
They had pallets of shotgun ammo everywhere. Cases and cases.
All I shoot is 16 gauge and they had more cases of 16 gauge ammo than all the cases I have seen in the past combined. They even had 16 gauge steel shot which has been unobtainable for the past 10 years.
No limit on shotgun ammo and I did get a case of it.
I was after 7.5 and 8 shot ammo and did find some after digging. Very little target shooting shot shells. Most of what they had was 4,5,6 shot for pheasant hunting and steel shot- hundreds of cases.

Seeing a lot of adds posted by clay target shooters now wanting to buy target shells. Even they have become extinct, and at the rate they go thru them, I don't see that sport lasting much longer. Or, how many can afford it. Take a look on the auction side at what they are getting for 4 boxes of target shells.

My trap shooting is on hold. Cant find components. Are wads, hulls, few if any primers or powder. Shot is up to $45 a bag if you could find some.

I need two cases of 16 gauge 8 shot to get through sporting clays league and I have that.
I probably need to pick up another case just for practice.
I was just thinking this morning maybe I should buy all ammo I can, even if it is not a caliber I own. I don't want to contribute to the shortage but on the other hand I have a feeling I may not get another chance.

If you have a different caliber..16 gauge... 7x57, 9.3x62 or anything else... ammo is actually out there. I ran across some 7x57 for 15 bucks a box of 20. They had something like 400 boxes of it. At that cost one could afford to purchase a rifle to shoot it.

CTD were the folks that were gouging the LAST time we went thru this insanity. I would start working on my slingshot skills before I spent a nickel with them.
