Bidding on ammo and losing it to an FFL bidder

Yea Dude it's a conspiracy. If you have a shooting range or sell guns for a living both are much easier if you have ammo to sell even if it costs several times what it should. It is a lousy time to be buying ammo unless you really need it and are not trying to just hoard it.

We should not have to compete againistt FFL- dealers on bids.

Seems to me they would want this to not make one wonder if they are working together, driving up prices.

FFL dealers need to make deals with other dealers seperate from us regular folks. Especially now with no trust and prices out of hand.

I'm looking at auctions ready to close on 9mm and most of the listings have 20-30 bidders- who knows how many watchers. Sure, there are those among them who will wait to bid at the last minute. What about it?

Of course a lot of the buyers are FFLs. We can't get any ammo either.

Collusion to drive up prices is conceivable in a flat market, but during panics (such as we have now) the prices climb to seemingly absurd levels automatically. $1 per round for 9mm? This time last year that would have been a joke. Now getting 9mm at any price is the object of many bidders.

"Can we request proof of sale?"

You can request anything you want to...good look getting it.

"If this is how one feels they should not be slammed for it."

I make the judgement calls in this forum. Not the membership. Make sure we're clear on that issue.

FFLs ARE normal folks! LOL, well most are. Just because someone has an FFL does NOT mean that they are a large dealer and get great discounts. Most FFL holders are small time businesses.

Well, "suppose" they are shills, you know the fees involved if a shill bids and wins. Very high, and if item is relisted there you go again. Yes, I believe it can and SOMETIMES on rare occasions the seller would do something like that. No proof but I would wager 99.9% of all sales on here are legit.

I was at a range recently and they had some ammo but it was real pricey.....the owner told me they bought it off Gunbroker....He is an FFL and ammo has trickled in so slowly, this was the only option they had to keep things rolling

I removed my slam........bottom line if you are not comfortable with bidding here then Don't...I have been buying and selling items here for over 20 years...Never had an issue with any of the 400 plus transactions, never felt like anyone was trying to pull something over on me...With a very few exceptions all I have dealt with have been fine ladies and gentlemen.......

I have an FFL. Yep I will bid and buy if the price is right.

Gun buyers need fodder if they purchase a gun and some ask right off, do you have any ammo.

I won an auction this afternoon. No hanky panky.. only 1 NR bidder started it and one bidder with 1 feedback. If he would have bid again it would have been his. Lucky me.

There are times when I bid on something at the last minute because I just happened to see it. I don't care who I'm bidding against, I just bid what I'm willing to pay, if I win great, if not no big deal, there's plenty more out there.

Those that won the auctions you were bidding on also could be complaining that you ran the price up and they had to outbid you. Either increase your bids or be patient and wait for the supply to catch up with the demand. Bob
