Considering today's prices you stole those. If your conscience is bothering you I am in for the give away. Bob

I think you did good, normal retail is around $50 if you can find them.

Not bad but those are old. That box is over 30 years old.

What are you going to use those in, SF? Pretty big for a .308 Win...

I see want ads all the time for older bullets.

Must have been some features that were discontinued.

The Winchester silver tips and Remington bronze points come to mind.

You can shoot those out of a .308 but velocity is way down. I am using them for a .300 Win Mag. These bullets are the exact HPBT that Sierra currently still makes.

I thought I read here that you had a .300 Win...

I've got about 400 of the 168 SMK's that I hope to work up a load for my wife's .308.

That thing loves the Federal Matchkings with 168 SMK's so I need to figure out how to emulate that load. If only there was a place I could go to ask....😀

Have fun and don't shoot your eye out!

Neo those will do great in a 308. I load them to 2600 and seat the bullet just off the lands and to fit the magazine. IMR 4064 and 4895 are my goto powders but Varget will work if you need some non-temp sensitive powder, with federal or CCI match LR primers they work great in my 700PSS, Steyr SSG-69 or M1a.

I like the heavier bullets in the 300. They maintain a lot of energy at longer distances and handle the wind a lot better.

How much 4064 are you using in those? I have 4064, 4831SC, and H335 on hand. The rifle is a 700 LTR, a 20" version of your PSS.

I would start at 40gr and work up to 43 and see what the gun liked. Use a chronograph, I have found the sweet spot for 308's is between 2550 and 2625fps. In my experience the 308 doesn't like max loads for accuracy.
