Found a skull

susie

Took a walk to pull the SD card from the game cam. Deer appear to have finished the winter shed. Old one-eye is still alive and well. No more sign of the 'yote.

Took a turn around the northern most pond. On the embankment I came across this little skull which is about 3 inches long. Possibly a hawk.

    Certainly a raptor, probably a buto. At that size likely a female red tsil.

    Take it all back. I looked on the computer rather than the phone. The size of the orbits indicates a great horned owl.

    If it is a protected species like a hawk, owl, etc., just be aware that possession of the skull is likely illegal, regardless of how the critter died. Neat find, though! Sorry to put a damper on it.

    I agree. We have a few here on the farm. In fact when kids first moved up here they had one that rested on the light outside their front door. Possibly looking for mice.

    Our house was built in the late 1800's. Maybe 20 years ago a woman stopped by and told us her great grandfather built the house and could she possibly come in and take a look around. BAH, BAH, BAH. She noticed that l had planted many trees thru out the property and asked if I had come across any bones! I told her no and she said she knows at least 6 people had been buried here way back. After may wife came around after fainting the woman left. She sent us some old photos of the property which were really interesting stuff.
