Flashlight score
I shouldn't have read the inexpensive pocket knives comments before I headed out to run some errands this afternoon. Stopped at Menards (big box hardware like Lowes) and while there thought I would check out the cheap knives. Didn't find any that I liked but hanging there on closeout was a 3 pack of LED flashlights marked down to $5.99. 80 lumen main beam and 200 on the side for a work/area light. Magnetic base and a pocket clip. I already have more flashlights than a normal person so why not 3 more? I have maglights, Surefire, Streamlight, and a host of others. I remember when bright LEDs came out and a single bulb would cost more than these three new flashlights. I figure with the bad luck I have with leaking batteries these 2 buck a piece flashlights won't break the bank the next time a battery self destructs. At least these are the reasons I gave Judy to justify my flashlight buying habit.😁 Bob

I miss Menards. Was my favorite store up north. Hope they make it to TN soon. They always had good deals on stuff, and much better selection than Lowes or HD.

My latest is a Streamlight Microstream USB. Rechargeable, same size as my forefinger, and has a two-way "S" clip for pocket or hat brim. Two light levels and a combined momentary/steady on tail-cap switch. VERY handy little booger and amazingly bright. About $30 IIRC.

I just ordered two of these. It has 18 leds, a cooling fan, and uses 8 of the 21700 series batteries. Could probably use it to start a fire in a pinch, LOL. 20 bucks.

I check the flashlite rack every time I walk into the Menards store, then the glove display, and then the knives. I end up buying stuff I don't need immediately but it always ends up being useful at some later time.

Yeah, I would be lying if I said I didn't do the same thing. Sometimes the cart is full and I haven't even got to what I went there for in the first place.😀 Bob

One can NEVER have too many flashlights...........I can see four on my bedside table right now. The LEDs have become incredibly cheap. Just stock up on batteries too.

I have also become a fan of O Light. They have a variety of lights that charge with a magnetic USB connection. I guess if the power goes out, one might be SOL.........but they are slick and bright.

I lost track of how any flashlights are around here
I do remember as a young kid we had one just a cheap two d cell you had to bang several times to get a good connection and the battery s were eather dead or dying every time we tried used it even remember heating the battery's on the heating stove to get a few more minutes use out of them lucky they never exploaded but always managed to squeeze a few more minutes out

I have Kel-lites, from when I worked. The others used high dollar proprietary rechargeable batteries that I won't waste my money on. Mostly I use the free-bee lights from HF. I have many of the little round ones, but prefer the blue wallet sized ones. Get my batteries there when they're on special or free. I don't care if they break or get lost. The bottom line is that they work.
