I'm confused with GB sending FFL out to sellers

The automated process works well, but it can be used only when the receiving dealer has signed up with GB to be listed as a dealer.

My local dealer either doesn't know about this process, or maybe he just doesn't care; it's not my business. When I buy a gun from any other nonlicensee or dealer, I send my local dealer an email asking him to email a copy to the receiving dealer; it takes him about 30 seconds. I would have to email him anyway, so that he knows that I have a gun coming to him. So, not worth worrying about.

Life is too short to worry about why someone does things a certain way.

Neal's advice is what is important, follow it and you'll be good to go. You have to contact your FFL anyway, do both operations at once then sit back and breathe to relax.

    Best.

Alot of new buyers make the same mistake.

Selecting your receiving FFL does not automatically send the FFL to the seller. Some FFLs have placed their FFL on file with gunbroker.com but the vast majority have not. Like they said above, after you make a purchase call your transfer dealer and relay the sellers email.

My last few purchases were smooth as butter, but as I understand it, GB does not send out any FFLs. Your dealer, (such as mine have notified GB that they are a receiving dealer and have their e-mail listed with GB. When you win an auction, select a dealer at check out, GB then sends a notice to that selected dealer notifying him that you have won an auction and to send a copy of their license to the seller. It contains all of the seller's information as well as yours. My dealer is on notice if he receives such a notice from GB to send out the license.

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I would imagine GB does not send anyone a copy of the FFL's holders license.

They actually do. That is IF the FFL has a copy of their license uploaded to the FFL system. When the buyer chooses an FFL from the Gun Broker system it will send one of two emails. One message goes to both the seller and the FFL and says that the FFL needs to send a copy of their license over to the seller so the transaction can be completed. If their license is on file the email we get is a link to download the actual FFL and the link is also located on the Sold Orders page with the transaction.

20% of the time, the FFL on file with GB is expired.
