    My uneducated opinion is that no one can help you without photos. But, you may be able to figure it out for yourself by comparing it to other snipers, as pictured on GB COMPLETED auctions:

    The question is not if this was a sniper, but were some made or used without the cheek piece and third swivel?

    I don't have an expert opinion of my own but am borrowing from another. That the cheek piece is absent does not exclude the rifle from being a genuine sniper. I had a few questions on another forum and received feedback from someone very much into the Enfields that cheek pieces were often not attached until after the rifle was otherwise outfitted as a T-sniper.

    You are correct re the number on the buttstock regarding matching scope.
