#4 Mark 1 (T) sniper rifle- need expert advise
Recently picked up what I believe is a EX-#4 Mark 1 (T) sniper rifle. Rifle has the two scope bases on the side of the receiver, rear micrometer sight has no "battle sight" , receiver at the butt stock area has "M47" in the upper area and the letters "TR" near the bottom. Main receiver marked No.4 Mk1, just over the ejector screw is the letter "T". These features all indicate that the rifle is a sniper. Also the butt stock has a serial # on top just behind the receiver which I understand would have been the # on the scope. However there are two things not present. There is no indication that the butt stock ever had the wooden cheek piece installed and there is no third sling swivel just in front of the magazine as I have seen in pictures of these rifles. Anyone have expert opinion on all this?

My uneducated opinion is that no one can help you without photos. But, you may be able to figure it out for yourself by comparing it to other snipers, as pictured on GB COMPLETED auctions:

The question is not if this was a sniper, but were some made or used without the cheek piece and third swivel?

I don't have an expert opinion of my own but am borrowing from another. That the cheek piece is absent does not exclude the rifle from being a genuine sniper. I had a few questions on another forum and received feedback from someone very much into the Enfields that cheek pieces were often not attached until after the rifle was otherwise outfitted as a T-sniper.
You are correct re the number on the buttstock regarding matching scope.
