Is CZ buying Colt Firearms?

I guess you can use the term 'venerable' for most of Colt's history but the last couple of decades has seen its reputation tarnished substantially.

Colt has been bounced around the field as much or more than most of the U.S. firearms manufacturers. At one time even Canada was a part (and may still be...) of Colt's working team.

While most folks concentrate on the financial problems haunting Colt, it's really just the same thing that tried to sink Remington Arms; gross, inexcusable mismanagement by stupid people. It's as simple as that. The people in charge of making decisions for the profitability of the company are incompetent.

It's too bad that investors such as the Roundhill Group can't ante up once more to buy Colt and redirect it's goals towards intelligent profitability while residing here in the U.S.

    Best.

That is so common to so many old, formerly highly successful, solid companies in numerous industries. Consider GE and Kodak for just two non-firearms examples. The pattern is always the same. The companies used to be run by management that knows the business they are inside out. Many even came up through the ranks. But not any more. Now, it is highly fashionable to bring in new "talent" from a totally different kind of business. If insiders are promoted, invariably they are from departments like human services, or accounting.... departments that have no clue how the company's products are made.

Looking at Colt's history, it appears to me that what kept them alive through the decades was government contracts.

But with innovative companies like Glock and Sig on the scene, those in charge at Colt (as you pointed out) are more focused on profits than quality. And guns are a product that require quality #1, not price, to satisfy buyers.

Yeah I hate to say it but since when was American manufacturing something to brag about?

Colt is a stupid company with a history of making stupid decisions. There are much better products available and have been for a long time. I won't miss them.

    Nailed it.

Demise began in the early 80s. As of late, some of their newer 1911s and the reintroduced snake guns are very well made. I have fired and examined several and machine work is near perfect. I attribute to CNC tech.

It still pisses me off that a top of the line Gold Cup comes with one mag.

CZ is managed by "Gun People" IMHO that's a big plus and hopefully lead to Colts salvation.

"It still pisses me off that a top of the line Gold Cup comes with one mag."

This is the result of poor analysis of customer needs and desires. The Gold Cup should come with at least two and possibly 5 fitted magazines. Magazines just do not cost that much to make and can be subcontracted at a very attractive cost to Colt.

"CZ is managed by "Gun People" IMHO that's a big plus and hopefully lead to Colts salvation."

Alice Poluchova is a wonderful CEO of CZ-USA in Kansas City, KS. She is devoted to the firearms community and how CZ can participate.

Anyone remember Winchester, which is now built in Belgium, and with higher quality than the USRAC years?

Will Savage and Ruger be the next possible acquisitons by a foreign company?

Perhaps CZ needs more plant capacity in the US.

Or CZ is looking for more profit. Maybe CZ will continue the Colt productions and bring new life to the company.

Colt screwed us small FFL dealers a few years back. That was the last I would sell their product.
