always disliked him when i was younger and really didnt understand the game of baseball. he played small ball, one run at a time. get someone on base and then move him around to score any way that you could. took me many years to realize that was pure baseball.

I have many great memories of sitting in Dodger Stadium watching games with my grandfather as a part of the Dodger-Pepsi Fan Club. Tommy Lasorda was a big part of that. Sad to hear that he's passed.

He lived and breathed the game, a true baseball man.

He always said the blood in his veins ran "Dodger Blue".......he'll probably be buried with it too. I've heard many motivational speakers in my life but he was the absolute best, none could even come close to him. A winner no doubt.

He pinch hit Kirk Gibson in Game One of the World Series against Oakland. Gibson was out due to injuries and he could barely walk.

With two out in the bottom of the ninth, Gibson hit one of the most memorable homers in baseball history. Lasorda looked like a genius that night.

Here it is in a nine minute video. The greatest reliever in the game that year, vs one of the great sluggers of all time.

This video features a lot of Lasorda.
