That sounds like going into to a car dealership and asking to buy just the VIN placard.

    Why?

Just grind off the serial number and stamp your initials in the plate. Thats what the cool kids do. 😁

My fault, I didn't explain that very well. The LCP has a fire control unit like a SIG P320. It's the legal firearm and serialized, it can also be removed from the polymer frame which is not the legal firearm. However, Ruger doesn't treat this part as a separate fire control unit in term of aftermarket support. I want to buy this part from an FFL but no one has one that I can find. In my mind there has to be someone out there with just this part.

Pretty sure that isn't going to happen.

I'm a big fan of the P320, which like the Beretta APX (I'm also a fan of that pistol) has a modular fire control unit which as you state "Is the legal firearm."

In the case of the P320, we begin upper right with a full sized (SIG calls it Carry Size) module which can support a variety of other grip modules (I have several more which aren't shown in this photo) available in all sizes and colors:

This switch is accomplished by removing the host pistol's fire control group by removing the take down lever and then pulling the fire control unit out, and then installing it in another module: in this case stepping down from full size to sub-compact:

I have a Ruger LCP .380; it's in my car and I don't feel like going outside...it's cold out there! I fired and cleaned the LCP many times, and I haven't noticed the capability to remove and install the entire fire control unit. I'm not stating that you are wrong, I simply haven't seen it for myself.

Thank you for your reply. Here's a link to forum showing the fire control unit separated from the rest of the parts.

I had no idea it could come out in one piece. A very informative article. In any case, I'm unaware of dealers selling these as stand-alone fire control units.

I'd call Ruger and see if they will sell it to you (via your local FFL). Tell em you came into possession for a complete slide assembly and now need a lower receiver to complete it.

I see a couple sellers on the auction side w/ just the plastic grip frame for sale.
