How to retract an order of a bid you won
Hey guys, recently I bid on an item and won it. I had no idea the shipping would be outrageously high. For reference: It was a cap that I bid $10.00 on. The seller did not list the shipping price. As soon as I won it, the seller said shipping would be $45.00.
I sent the seller a message saying I cannot afford said item. They have yet to respond. Anyone know how to completely retract/cancel an order of an auction that was won? I seriously don't have that kind of money right now or in the distant future (tough times).

No retracting bids on GB. Ya bid, ya buy. One should clear up any questions with the seller before placing a bid. What's the auction number?

As HPD states, it is not possible to retract a bid, and certainly not following the close of the auction. Any time that shipping charges answer not mentioned it is wise to contact the seller and inquire. Nevertheless, $45 seems out of line for a ball cap. My advice is to contact the seller and tell him an amount that you would be willing to pay. If the two of you come to terms, no harm no foul.

The shipping charges for a hat are absurdly excessive. It appears the seller is trying to avoid auction fees by selling the item cheap and charging 10 times what it should cost to ship it. As mentioned above, send him 10 bucks and tell him to keep it. You can warn others in the feedback you leave.
It is imperative that you get a firm or not to exceed shipping cost before bidding on an item. If the item is listed as actual cost shipping then it is wise to ask the seller how much shipping would be to your zip code. If it seems out of line, DO NOT BID in it.
Sorry for your troubles with this seller. I have been buying and selling here for years and have found no issues with shipping as long as I ask before bidding.

You could just not pay for the item, take the "F" in your feedback, and leave him the same thing, explaining the situation in your feedback response. As a seller, I could understand that a new buyer made a mistake about not asking all of the questions needed to make a bid, but if you have multiple feedback's and start getting F's for being an NPB, then that's another story. Sellers should be responsible enough to add all of the necessary info, but it's ultimately up to the buyer to push the button.

Send him 10 dollars, can't give you a bad review for nonpaying bidder.
Best to be out 10.00 than 55.00 for a 2.00 hat.

The guy is a crook. If your a first time buyer, you made an honest mistake in not asking, and have learned that there are disreputable people as well as honest and reputable people here that sell and buy. If it were me, and I was a first time buyer, I wouldn’t pay him and let him take the loss as well as having to pay the commission, then re-register with a different user name. I hate shysters !

I try to keep an eye on the people bidding on my stuff and block those I deem worthy. I checked yesterday and a guy had a B4 rating. Checked it and he had a very recent non paying bidder with a F. His other 3 were all A+'s. I read the complaint from the seller. He said the guy was a dead beat bla bla bla. Then he wrote that my bidder refused to pay $85.00 to ship a worn out Winchester .22 rifle. I would have too. I did not block my bidder.
