Stars
What do the stars or lack of next to a member's name mean?
A real explanation would be appreciated (after the usual comments of course).

Not sure, but I think it mostly has to do with the rate, but also the amount of posts by the member.

I think it is determined by how many likes your comments get as well as any promotions given by the esteemed moderators. Somehow those things add up to points that can award stars. It seems a bit unnecessary to have this in an adult forum. Bob

it's not the $100.00 per star that is bad, it's the sales tax and shipping it to them....😁

If remember correctly on of the senior mods said he had no clue who or how stars were given.

It appears the 4th star is awarded when users reach 500 activity points. How activity points are awarded is less clear, but it appears to be linked heavily to three things: earning badges, starting discussions that... generate discussion, and generally adding to posts (this one is less clear how much a factor it is). You can see the Activity point leader board by clicking as per below:

I will gladly donate a star to any member that sends me a $100 check to donate to our charity- the Central Area Shooting Hostel. Just use their initials on the check.......🙄

I believe adding/changing your picture icon gets some activity points also... and yes mine was at 500 when I got the star.
