Completely random thoughts
Random things on my mind lately:
- I've dropped 32 lbs and roughly 8% body fat since the beginning of March and even though I still have more I want to lose this is motivating me. I had been taking pain killers for back pain (bulging discs) almost daily from about September of 2020, and that's not been necessary since the beginning of the month. That too, is motivating me.
- What is not motivating me is repeating my BodyBeast workout series. I like the results, but am already getting bored with the routine. It's probably the 5th time I have done this series. But I really don't have another program I want to do, and frankly don't want to spend a bunch of money on more equipment, another program, or gym membership.
- I leave for my first backpacking trip of the season in a week and am struggling to contain my excitement. I just want to retire and do this full time.
- I hate lawn care, but the results are satisfying.
- My 30th year HS reunion is coming up in August. I am conflicted about going. I only talk to 4 friends from HS and haven't even seen any of them in over a year (at least... closer to 2?). 3 of them aren't going (1 because he wasn't in my class) and I don't even know for sure about the 4th but he probably will. A fifth reached out via e-mail to me two months ago when news of the reunion hit, and when I responded there's been radio silence since. It's the first time I've heard from him since probably 2 years BEFORE we graduated. We had been decent friends in grade school, didn't talk much in Jr. High, and then in H.S. the most we did was sit at the same lunch table in our Soph. year*. I had responded to our class president's announcement that I was gonna go, but I am doubting that I will at this point. There were some 620 in my graduating class.
- I recently found some grainy YT videos of a HS jazz choir performance that I was in, at the end of my Jr. year. It was posted last July (found apparently) by one of the better tenors in the group, but the video was taken by the father of one of our pianists. I haven't been in contact with ANY of the people in that group, and all of us were really close at the time... we toured a lot together. This is depressing me.
- I want to go back to bed.
- Work on my house is finally being completed. I have cabinets installed in my kitchen in a mish-mash that some of the existing needs painted, now. That work and the completion of some of the other work in the addition portion will be done by the middle of next month. I am SO tired of working on my house (I'm still doing some of it myself). This project was started in October 2019. Ugh.
*ETA: not true, I just remembered that he and I were in the musical Brigadoon our Jr. year together too.

I went to my 10 yr. HS reunion. That was good enough for me. I've lost quite a few of my longtime, childhood friends, that attended the same schools. They were the only HS friends I kept in contact with.
I wasn't a jock of any kind, or a member of any club, team, or association while in HS. I went to school, and when it let out for the day, I was gone.
I wasn't dating in HS, so I didn't even go to my own prom.
We had a 5 year (for some reason) that I went to (for some reason). And that's it so far.

Never went to any of my class reunions, most of the people organizing them I don't give a damn to even see. All I wanted out of high school was OUT!

Graduated in 87 and have not attended one reunion. I had moved, and only attended the high school from which I graduated, for my senior year. I didn't have any strong bonds there. Nothing lost.

Had a blast at the HS reunion yrs back. They wouldn't let me in at first.. So I went back to the truck and got a permanent marker to sign the stick on name tags. I put Dick Clark on it. Entered and spoke to a couple folks who realized who I was. Only about 150 folks showed up. Everyone had gray hair and looked old. Met a girl who I have know since 7th grade and didn't know she had went by my folks house while I was still living there. She had left her phone number twice right after HS and my Mom never forwarded the information.

We missed our 50th class reunion last year due to KungFlu. Tried to make it up this year and had 3 people. My Cousin drove all the way from Texas and it was only her, myself, and one other woman.

congrats on the weight loss , my thing I just do not like house work cleaning dusting and so on LOL
I hope you get to do more of what you enjoy we only get one go around and like most have said no one on there death bed said I wish i had worked harder or longer
My HS reunion was last year I never heard any thing so I guessed covid stopped it , it would have been 45 years I have never went to any of them but I have never or stayed in touch I have seen maybe one or two bumping in to while shopping since then 1975 . we had at the time the largest freshman class in the town I think it was over 500 and I would guess majority graduated . and I would have liked to went back on my 5th or 10th just get even for all the bullying I got as a kid when I started HS I was 93 pounds graduated at 120 pounds but working construction I went to 165 and all was muscle I have seen obits at random so I know a few maybe more ? have passed on .
but then again I retired 7 + years ago never kept in touch or try and find any old co-workers 25 1/2 years I never got that close to any one I look at them as coworker acquaintances some what friend but never close buddies
the small group of what i would say were best friends and like family from my early days have all died off I am the last one above ground , I see it both good I am still here and bad all my close buddies are gone and doubt I will ever be as close to any one like I was with them

1) Congrats on the weight loss. I also really pursuing fitness. I am “intermittent fasting” where I “fast” 16 hours a day and eat as normal in an 8hr period.
It takes a week or two in order to adapt, lots of info about many choices of intermittent fasting on you tube.
2) Its a good thing to have a retirement goal!
3) Agree- yardwork is a pain and satisfying.
4) Go to the reunion. I have never been to one, but I will try and make the next one.

I went to my 10 year. Ehh. Never been to another one. My
wifeshe who shall be obeyed, graduated 2 years behind me, and we went to her 20 year. I knew a lot of them.I've been out 33 years now.
I love yard work, gardening, doing chores. I'm constantly tinkering on fences, redoing gates, improving the paddocks.
I go hang out with my helper, in my profile pic. She helps herd heifers, goats, and chickens. Best cow dog I've ever had. 1/4 boxer, 3/4 great Pyrenees. She's always with me outside, and just jumped in.
I used to hang out with fellas I went to highschool with. Haven't seen or talked to most in 20 some years now.
Still friends with my real friends I grew up with. They went to the Catholic School in town, with lkannes.
The only work outs I do are from working. Union electrician, and then throwing hay, and working around home and neighbors.
Who do I have to impress, I'm married with children, and Mia, my chore helping dog, loves me just as I am.
Work on my house never ends. Old century farm. House built in 1897. Always something to do.

They had a 60th "Zoom" reunion on June 10th for my class i961 Hermitage High School, Henrico County, Virginia. Panthers were three years in a row Virginia State Champions in Football. I was on track team. Lost interest when I saw what I needed to do to log on to their "Zoom" meeting.
Still, I really enjoy you fellas Reunion experiences.----------------------------Ray

Went to my 10 year and a30 year . Dont plsn on any others .The few nice folks from school were still nice 30 years later , The bastards were still bastards . I still live in the same area and have since graduation in 1973 . Been easy to find if they wanted to ,but few have ever done so . And no high school was not enjoyable

I would have graduated in 77 had I stayed, but all my friends were 1-3 classes ahead of me and I just up and quit to join the Army 2 months into my senior year... Finished HS in the Army right after AIT as was in the contract my Mom had to sign to allow me to enlist at 17... so I did graduate in 77 just not from my hometown school, anyways like I said my friends were in earlier classes and I am still close with about 5-6 of them and their families, but no reunions for me.

I did not like many people in high school and 45 years later I have no reason to change that opinion. Bill Sorroco still owes me a nickle he promised on the Bible to repay the next day, he never did and laughed in my face over it. The jocks were all self centered jerks. I was shooting small bore rifle starting at 13 years old. Nobody else was interested, they wanted to smoke dope and get drunk. I was not into that stuff.
I admire your weight loss. It is tough to do and tougher to stick with it.

I went to a small town high school and had a graduating class of 126. Close knit town, you pretty much knew all the kids in your class, their families and even their dogs for that matter. We had a strong sports program finishing 3rd in State in football my Jr year, an all weather track etc.....Great school with College prep courses even back in the 70's...Strong Ag and Industrial Arts program.
It was a good place to be from.......I left town for college after graduation and never looked back....but I do attend class reunions and still enjoy seeing several old team mates and even teachers that attend. It is only every 5 years and I still have family in town so easy trip to make....
We had our 40th in 2017 and it was a great time....yes there were a few hardheads there trying way too hard to show us how much they had and what they had accomplished but those were few and far between.......I had the opportunity to straighten out some hard feelings from many years ago with a guy that had been one of my good friends...The disagreement was settled and I said I was sorry for some fisticuffs I started......always good to clear the air...First time I had seen him in 38 years...
Looking forward to the 45th next year....

only 2 people who I really wanted to see again, well 5 years ago I was in ICU in pittsburg right after bypass, and in walks a guy in shirt and tie, I started to tell him how I was feeling, I thought he was another Dr. He just looked at me and smiled and said you don't know me do you? I said no, I don't remember you Dr. he laughed and told me his name, it was one of the two guys I went to school with, seems his mom found out I was having the surgery and told him and he happened to live in Pittsburg so he just stopped by. Had a great visit and caught up on a lot from the last odd 40 years, we promised to keep in touch, but I haven't heard from him since........

Never been to any of my HS reunions. Had a whopping 62 in my class. Congrats on your weight loss and take care of that back.

I put my root beer in a square cup. Now it’s beer.

That’s a good point. Is it necessary to remove the constant before the square operation? It actually is, so slide the “1” out front, perform the square, then square the constant before multiplying them back together. Et voila’ we get the same result.
if we started with TWO root beers we’d be in trouble!

Where Traffic Court takes on a whole new meaning. You can't drive! Ah ... Where does it say that? Next case and here's a moving violation's ticket to pay on your way out. Is this Unconstitutional or just another Civil Court Case?
