Personally, I have no problem with the holiday at all. I really don't. What I have a problem with is the name, "Juneteenth"!
If the holiday is intended to celebrate the emancipation of slaves and the end of slavery, then CALL it that for cripes sakes! Call it 'Emancipation Day'. Nothing wrong with that; it's a perfectly noble and deserving name. I rather like that name. I actually think it's a more deserving of a holiday than say, Columbus Day.
But don't 'woke' it all up with some trendy hood-smack name like 'Juneteenth'! What will people think 100 years from now when they see that??? They'll think we were a bunch of short-bus window lickers, that's what they'll think!
I mean C'mon, what's next..."Oh No You Di-int Day"??? Or "National Play-ah Day"?? Grow...up!
'Junteenth' is the most immature, uneducated and ridiculous name I can even imagine. It's not even a word for cripes sakes! Can't we just use a real word for a "National" holiday???
It's part of the Marxist program to confuse things with made up or redefined words. And this is, of course, part of the neoMarxist agenda to undermine our National History by redefining when our independence day truly is. I am all for celebrating the emancipation of slaves, but it's not a national independence day and the name for this holiday is stupider than Biden spittle.

September 22(1862) was when the emancipation proclamation was issued it was to take effect on January 1 (1863) and it only freed enslaved people in the states who were in rebellion😉. When the war started in it was not about slavery and Lincoln didn't want to upset some of the border states not in rebellion that allowed slavery.
This ridiculous juneteenth garbage is just what it sounds like and I agree with FCD. If you want to celebrate emancipation do it on the right day, 22 Sep or 1 Jan and call it what it is not some ghetto rap name, IMO its embarrassing and it sounds like an idiot made the name up.
I for one am going to go about my business like nothing is happening which for me its not. Although my people are all from the South we weren't slaves and we didn't own slaves but most of them fought for the CSA.

Flying Clay Disk I read your post and no not everybody skips to the new page... if you click on a thread link it takes you to the oldest "New" message that you have not seen... at least when reading from my computers, maybe phones are different.
Anyways, I agree the name is dumb and would go along with something more appropriate like emancipation day, as far as when to celebrate it, well all I can say is Jesus wasn't born on the 25th of December (or possibly could have...) but we celebrate on that day...

One more point about this ridiculous holiday is this does not celebrate a "National" event. This was a local event in Texas. If TX wants it to be a holiday.............OK but to be a Federal Holiday it should celebrate an event that took place in the whole country. IMO this sets a bad precedent.
Why don't we have a national holiday for the founding of Utah, or maybe a happy Main day for the day Main became its own state and was no longer part of Massachusetts.

"Juneteenth" is not some second freedom day here in the US. The day that the United States became free for ALL PEOPLE is July 4.
