    How old is the dog?

4 months and female. Very friendly. I was doing some work at a home where the owner fosters them. She has three 4 month old dogs that are being fostered and 5 adults that are her family.

I meet with a friend every day, he has two Malinois and I have two Pits. They play and compete chasing the ball and the Malinois have never so much as raised an eyebrow in the middle of all the rough and tumble. Eminently trainable and happy dogs, extremely intelligent.

Everything I have read/heard has been positive about the breed. I think that type of dog truly benefits from some professional training to reach their full potential.

I've always liked the breed, looked at a few pups years ago, but settled on Ridgebacks.

From what I understand about the breed, they need to be busy to be happy.I have a Jack Russell that is the same way.

    G. Gordon Liddy always used to talk about what a great dog the Malanois was.

I heard the business end of that breed can be quite serious.

Mali's are definitely working dogs and are considered to be more intense than GSD's. My German Shepherd is out of active military/LE working lines on both sides; she was opening bedroom doors at 10 wks and the front door at 13 wks. Friends who are K9 handlers are concerned about the increase in popularity of the Mali's; they really are too much for most people.

Appearance, temperament, and intelligence on a par with GSD's, so I would say there's not much to worry over !

I think you will be pleased. They can put a nasty hurt a person, but also curl up next to family in the warm spot too.

Mohawk, what did you decide? Do you have a new buddy?

They need a ton of exercise! Other than that fantastic dogs. I have a German Shepherd. Both are very intelligent. You will be very happy, but please make sure you exercise the dog or she will go nuts! Make sure you train her well. If you can teach her to be around dogs & people before 6-months old, she will be fantastic her entire life.

No........I decided that my apartment is too small and I don't have the time to devote to a dog or that particular breed right now.

Would not have been fair to the pup.

My buddy trains a lot of cops in martial arts. Some of the cops thought it would be a great idea to gift him on of these dogs, a puppy. That stupid dog ate the whole back seat of his car. Tore it to pieces. He destroyed one of the heavy bags at the gym. I asked a woman who trained these dogs if they were all crazy and she replied "Yes, especially the males.

I have only been around one. It was inside the owners house and saw a lady walking by on the street. The dog went through the screen and glass on the window to attack. The lady survived. That dog should have been put down but wasn't.
