Lydia wins Gold!

Next town south of here is Seward, 105 miles away, nice little seaside town. Local resident Lydia Jacoby just won the gold in the 100m breaststroke! Goooooooo Lydia!!!

    Rather impressive for a 17 year old from Alaska to win a gold medal in a swimming event.


    I actually caught the race last night, they said in the entire state there is only one 50 meter pool.

    Yep the only practice pool for her is about 120 miles from her home.

    It's interesting they're calling this the first gold medal for Alaska. Nobody remembers Tommy Moe from Girdwood? He took gold in the Downhill at Lillehammer in 1994. Great guy.
