Great, just great......
I have a weekend/future retirement place on a golf course in the hills of Arkansas. This past Saturday night, we had a pretty good storm and a large tree came down. Part of the tree now reaches probably 40-50 ft out in the edge of the 13th fairway. I reached out to the course maintenance department to see what I needed to do and they gave me better news than what I expected. They said they would take care of the part that is on the course property and, of course, the rest is my baby. Now to find someone to take care of the rest of it.

On the bright side cleaning up what they leave is better than replacing a roof if it had fallen in another direction. Sounds like you dodged two bullets. Bob

What kind of tree was it.....a decent piece of the right wood may be useful in getting someone to remove it for the tree...

I am almost certain it is a white oak, but not for sure. I am waiting to see what the course maintenance folks do with it and then I will reach out to someone to get the rest of it taken care of. I believe there will be someone who would like to have it to cut up and then let dry for firewood next year but I don't know if that is the route I want to take or just get a tree removal company to get it. I am very apprehensive about opening up a liability to myself. A chainsaw can be very unforgiving to someone who makes a mistake.

We had a tree come down last week and it couldn't have centered up my neighbor's mailbox any more perfectly. We got the tree cut up the same day and the road cleared, but the mailbox was pretty much flat and the pole was splintered to bits.

My wife has backed into two trees over past three years with my trucks and their tailgates down. Both of them she could not have hit more directly in the center of the tailgates if she had tried.

There might be a demand for her type of skill set, You know those places that sell special tailgates with cutouts for trucks with 5th wheel trailer attachments?

If it is White oak and is a decent size there should be someone with a sawmill locally that would take it. WO is a very desirable wood.

The tips of white oak leaves are rounded. Red oak are pointed. Either way it's good wood. My problem with giving away firewood is that the lazy boogers want it cut to a specific length, split, delivered & stacked. Then they get offended when I ask for a house key so I can feed their wood stove.
