use to have co-workers over some Japanese also I worked with they loved the chance as they could not have a gun back in japan they took countless photos and used targets as proof before I retired that had never shot a gun, I would explain safety concerns basic rules of handling even cut open shotgun shells and pull a bullet or two to show the inner workings of them all of the samples puled or cut open were taken home by some one . we had a lot of fun and never had any one not enjoy the time
now my youngest son has took over that roll when we have our back yard shoots with family and friends he invites friends over that have never shot any thing , always fun to introduce people to shooting for the first time and teach safety and gun handling . and of course fun to get every one together if first time or the thousandth time they have shot

Judy and I have had a minor roll in helping with one of the local high school SCTP skeet teams for the last 10+ years. Most of the new shooters every year have never shot a shotgun before joining the team. Also the cancer charity shoot we do every year gets new adult shooters that have never shot before. I love it when I see these new shooters years later still shooting and having fun. Bob

I have mentored numerous new hunters and shooters. Coached FFA and 4H shooting teams. Provided assistance and support for handicapped shooters and Veterans. This includes providing support, advice, and equipment for the sole purpose of allowing blind/visually handicapped people to shoot and hunt.

I definitely enjoy introducing people to shooting & now with my shooting simulator I can take a total novice, teach them all the safety and marksmanship fundamentals without live ammo, then go hot and know they will have a great experience.
Also, there are lots of competent shooters who are intimidated by USPSA style shooting l have a full spare rig set up to teach people USPSA and get them introduced (hooked) on running and gunning.

Often. I have guns just for that purpose. Low recoil options, short stocks etc.

You're a good bunch. Thank you.

At one time I used to teach basic defensive pistol to about 10 nurses a year. Typically working evening or night shifts. When they saw one too many assault victims, I would get a call "A friend said you taught her how to shoot...."

Mentor High School Scholastic Skeet team, way up her in New York State on the Vermont border. I'm also involved with the 4H shooting program.
Surprising fact....New York State has the third highest amount of young shooters in the 4H program. Right behind Texas and Oklahoma, I think.
I know....you could knock me over with a feather when I was told that while being instructed by 4H. Then again, there's more to New York State than NYC...

As much as I can. Like Scout, I also keep a couple beginner firearms around for the purpose.
