Need Help on a old style Rifle build 22k Hornet

Need Help on a old style Rifle build 22k Hornet.

I have contacted most of the barrel makers I can think of. None will make an chamber a barrel for me. I have a K98 Mauser receiver with a matching bolt. A set trigger an beautiful walnut stock. This build is for my father who is bugging me to get him a 22K Hornet. So far only found one for sale. Model 70 per64. Dont have that kind of cash. Would consider buying the rimers an head space gauges. Any help would be accepted an appreciated.

    I am currently waiting for my 22 Hornet Encore barrel from Bullberry. Should be delivered in a few weeks. The wait time was 6 months, but worth a shot if you are looking for a custom barrel.

    I nice used Ruger 77 is somewhat mauser. Also, there are some with descent looking wood. You would just need to have it punched 22K.

    " I have a K98 Mauser receiver with a matching bolt."................a m-98 is NOT the rifle to build a .22K on. Ruger m-77/22 in .22 hornet, small action matini, win. 1885 low wall, or the CZ in hornet. are all much better

    Then get it rechambered, most any competent gunsmith can do it.

    If you want an "Old Style" rifle build I would look for a Martini Cadet rifle to re-barrel or maybe a Winchester 43 with the proper bolt face.

    You can find a Ziegenhahn & Diem action rifle at good prices still/ These are really nice and some have double set triggers.

    The CZ I mentioned above has a single set trigger and mine really shoots very well with handloads.

    I see Savage 25's on here for under $600 new. Friend has one in 17hornet which he says is very accurate.

    I thank you all for the advice. It was my intention to use the action I have to build on. But it seams no barrel maker is doing that any more.They keep telling me they do not have the reamers. But i can buy a rough an finish reamer. Just need a barrel with the right twist an threaded for my action.

    "threaded for my action."..........you need a gunsmith that will thread a barrel blank and chamber it for you

    " I have a K98 Mauser receiver with a matching bolt".............the 'mini mauser is not a k98 and barrels are not "plug and play", the barrels must be individually fitted and head spaced. brownells offers .22 barrel blanks in 9, 12,14, & 16" twists

    Mike I understand that I have been trying to find the right maker to cut me s barrel and fit it to my receiver. If I can get a barrel made to a rough chamber. Then i can have my smith. Fit an head space. I would be willing to buy a finish reamer an guages

    " I have been trying to find the right maker to cut me s barrel and fit it to my receiver.".........almost ANY barrel maked will make you a .22 barrel blank (see brownells). its up to your gunsmith to machine it to fit your action. you may need a new/better gunsmith. I could do this when I was 'in the business' but retired several years ago. for the 'K' hornet I'd suggest a 1/14 twist blank.

    Contact Norm Johnson at High Plains reboring and barrel in Turtle Lake N.D. Make sure you have a compatible bolt face on that mini.

    I have had a couple of rebores done by him and was very satisfied with the results. I understand that he has been doing full barrel jobs for a while and would expect them to be well done as well.
