I had Carpenter Bees tunnel into the bottom of the 2"x4" rails of my deck.

Woodpeckers decided to have them for lunch so they opened them up -- busted out what was left of the board and cleaned out the tunnels!

They will go after bugs wherever they might be. The birds I don't have much love for are the sapsuckers, I wish they would change their menu. They stress the trees to the point that they become borer targets.

@Flying Clay Disk Yeah, just wait until you get that "B-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-DAT!" on your house gutters when you're trying to take a nap on some Sunday afternoon! You'll be luvin' them woodpeckers then!

I had that either when I was studying or first thing in the am.

Around here I have noticed that the woodpeckers tap on trees, sending messages to others of their kind who also tap back in the distance. Some kind of a bird Morse code of sorts.

That is a GREAT picture pingjockey!

Thank you! I have an old early 8meg. Nikon body that came with a lense that wouldn't focus It is nice that my older Nikon lenses still work on it, just no autofocus. I have to run it in total manual mode which slows things up quite a bit. Those old Nikon lenses were some great glass though.

I love your "walkabout" pictures, in fact I love to see everyone's photo's. what you all get to see every day. This is a great land,

blessed by God, and beautiful to the eye. Thank you all!
