"I disagree........here in Travis county people smoke openly..."

....Travis county is where Austin is located, along with UT...Austin is, and always been a big college town...

try smoking "openly" in one of the small towns in North or East Texas and have one of the local Sheriffs see you, and see how quick the local cops are all over you...move away from any big college town and its very different...if you don't believe me come on up to my town and smoke a joint "openly"...

Potheads are easy to spot on the road. They are driving 1/2 the speed limit or less.

    Drunks do also!!!

I have to ask: what's the fascination with smoking weed? I get that having a drink with friends and family is a social activity since the beginning of history. But sparking up and getting stoned? Just doesn't make sense to me.

I think we need to separate this issue.....Recreational AND MEDICAL. I get the argument against recreational, but I still think it should be legal(liquor kills and it's legal) and we could discuss that side. BUT no one can convince me that MEDICAL should be illegal! Have someone you know(or yourself) in severe pain, thc is better for you than pain pills and less lethal. Medical thc helps cancer patients eat and sleep. Medical also helps kids with seizure disorders.

My point is, there is a big diff between medical use and rec use. You can argue, and may win, that no one needs to get high just because. BUT the people who need it for REAL medical reasons should have access.

Don't bogart that joint, my friend

    Pass it over to me

Don't bogart that joint, my friend

    Pass it over to me

    Rooooll another one

    Just like the other one

You've been hanging on to it

And I sure would like a hit

Don't bogart that joint, my friend

    Pass it over to me

Don't bogart that joint, my friend

    Pass it over to me

    Roll another one

    Just like the other one

That one's just about burnt to the end

So come on and be a real friend

Don't bogart that joint, my friend

    Pass it over to me

Don't bogart that joint, my friend

    Pass it over to me

Don't bogart that joint, my friend

    Pass it over to me

Don't bogart that joint, my friend

Pass it over to me !

I halfway feel they should decriminalize all illicit drugs.

That sure would cull a lot of the the worthless part of society.

Bottom line.... If you are a believer in the Constitution, and believe in freedom you will support legal weed. When Washington voted to legalize weed, I checked the "yes" box. Do I plan to use any? Nope, there's a reason they call it dope. Do I think the "law" should tell people what they will/will not put into their body? Nope, that's for the individual to decide. See how freedom works? But hey, I know plenty of so called conservatives who claim to believe in freedom, but only if it is something they agree with....That's what the libbies do too.

25 million scripts for Adderall in the US. I wonder what % of adults actually have ADHD. A stone throw away from meth.

"The Pusher" by Steppenwolf. This was the theme music for Easy Rider and Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper were stoned the whole time they were making the film:

You know I've smoked a lot of grass

O' Lord, I've popped a lot of pills

    But I've never touched nothin'

    That my spirit could kill

You know, I've seen a lot of people walkin' 'round

    With tombstones in their eyes

    But the pusher don't care

Ah, if you live or if you die

    God d***, The Pusher

God d*** I say The Pusher

I said God d***, God d*** The Pusher man

You know the dealer, the dealer is a man

With the love grass in his hand

Oh but the pusher is a monster

Good God, he's not a natural man

    The dealer for a nickel

Lord, he'll sell you lots of sweet dreams

Ah, but the pusher ruin your body

Lord, he'll leave your, he'll leave your mind to scream

    God d***, The Pusher

ThiS trend is going to dumb down the population some more. The new Hybrid weed is 100 times more potent than back in the day but with all the trends happening the last 30 years it's just another day in The liberalism of America. Soon harder street drugs will be accepted as normal like in Mexico. Just watch!

Medical marijuana and recreational use are two different colors of horses however.

It is state approved but not fed approved and there is the rub. Guy came into my fav gunshop wanting to know what to do after he purchased weed at the dispensary and he was denied on the ATF call in. Well nothing now as far as we know, you are done. Kind of backdoor gun control on a level that no one thinks about.

When I was in CO, they took down all of my information, even a copy of my driver's license. I was pretty hesitant

about IL. They took down zero information that they could pass on to the feds. Only checked my age and that was it.

First Ban Full Auto, Next Semi Auto, Next Revolvers, Next All Guns. It’s the same plan in reverse for legalizing all drugs. I don’t care if you smoke Pot but it’s the hypocrisy of all those who praise Marijuana and hate tobacco. It’s all bad I never even tried pot or tobacco.

Serf you are right! As I said I smoked a lot of grass way back when. Just last month I was at a party where a guy had some of the Illinois legal stuff. I had two hits.

My God I couldn't even get up out of the chair. It is nuclear powered, compared to what we were smoking at the Atlanta Pop Festival while we watched Jimi Hendrix in 1970.

I tried it when I was in my late teens. Only a couple of times though. Didn't feel that it did anything well enough for me to justify keep using it.

Not a big alcohol fan either. I'll sit down with the right company, in the right setting, and share a couple pitchers of beer. The last time I did that, was about 15 yrs. ago. I don't keep any beer on hand at home. Not a hard alcohol fan at all. If I've had any, it was maybe a couple of mixed drinks, when I was way younger.

I suppose that in the end, I don't like the idea or feel of being under the influence of something. Legal, or not.

Maybe I'm like John Denver. We just get high on life. 😄

John Denver was known to have a drink or 20.

While we're on the subject, as I said above, Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper were stoned non stop while they made Easy Rider. That movie came on tv a few years back. What a stupid movie! Moronic screenplay. No plot. The acting by Fonda and Hopper was terrible.

That movie is a good reason not to smoke pot.

Years ago my mother called and asked me to help her out, first she started to go into a long winded thing about teaching me to respect the law, Etc, I said Mom I know what you want, I'll be there tomorrow.

My Father had Terminal Cancer and couldn't eat, Mom was desperate to try something else and she said he just threw up the Marinol they had prescribed.

Afterwards I pressured a State rep for Medical use legality but never got anywhere. Years later HE introduced a bill that lost his Mother was sick and he saw things differently then!

Outlawing Marijuana is akin to outlawing Pine trees IMHO

    Hey Dale,

The dispensaries here scan the back of your DL and of course that has all the information about you. I talked to one of the workers there though a friend and they tell them to say "it just proving who you are." Well yea and now the state has a record to do whatever with and if the Feds want it.
