About 20 miles East in Blacksburg, Virginia. Passing over Virginia Tech right now. 7:11 pm

  A few years ago we were under a tornado warning. We headed to the basement (which I fully insulated) and ducked into the corner. As we sat there we could hear the tornado go right over our house. There are plenty of woods in this area including 18 of our acres. Our house is just east of our west woods, and I surmise that the woods may have helped the tornado gain enough altitude that it skipped over us.

  a couple of years ago we had several military planes fly over us about 500 or so feet. I was in the basement and didn't hear a thing. My wife told me about it or I never would have known. She said they were really loud.
