Well it's over, sort of
The last planes with the last service people left Afghanistan a couple of hours ago. Didn't get everyone out and are relying on the Taliban to help get the rest out. At least they destroyed the military equipment at the airport before leaving. What a cluster****! Just exactly what did we accomplish over the last ten years since BinLaden was killed? If we were going to give the country back to the Taliban, why didn't we do it long ago and save lives and billions of dollars? Bob

That's why I added the "sort of" part of my topic title. There are still several hundred Americans in Afghanistan and thousands of Afghani people that are in danger because they helped us. Not only are we trusting the Taliban to help them leave but there are now several thousand ISIS-K members in the country that will be searching out our stranded citizens. Our country will be held hostage to the terrorist demands in order to get our people out. A massive show of force several months ago and evacuating all Americans and Afghani helpers over the last three months would have made a lot more sense than trying to get it done in two weeks working with the Taliban. Negotiating and diplomacy are seen as weaknesses by those barbarians and I am afraid that is all we can expect from our commander in chief. Bob

Thank you. We should have gotten out 19 years ago. So easy to beat up on Biden today, but what about the screw ups of Obama, and most especially George Bush. It was Bush and Cheney who designed this disaster. George was "going to build a democracy in Afghanistan." What a fool.
