Ammo Shipping

It is difficult (I'm out in the sticks) and expensive for me to ship ammo. Is it less of a hassle and cheaper for a FFL to ship?

    Shipping ammo sucks. I try to avoid it if I can. I have several wooden cases of 7.62x54 that I will have to deal with sooner or later but I am putting it off as long as I can. You should check with local gun shops and ranges who are probably all looking for ammo right now.

    Yes, I understand that for me USP is the way to go except it needs to go through a hub and not my local UPS store. A hub is about 20+ miles away and though once I get into the highway it wouldn't take long. So, does a FFL have shipping easier that just a guy like me.

    Nope, FFL's follow the same rules you do. The question is, is there enough meat on the bone to be worth the FFL getting involved.

    UPS hub for me is nearly 100 miles round trip, and their counter person is only there for two or three hours out of the day.

    When I checked their website I found they had an "Isolated Location" fee if I had them pick it up here at the house. I then checked FedEx website and found they were just a bit more expense, but no extra fee because I live in BF Kansas. Came out about $20 cheaper than UPS.

    l have a gunsmith near me that ships ammo. l just take whatever l want to ship to him.

    l shipped a hundred rds of 223 the other day. l think it was $20-$25.
