Cleaning a plastic farm water tank question.

I bought a 35 gal blow molded tank from a local farm store about 10 years ago. I use it to water my garden that is about 150 yds from the house. Over the years it has developed scum (for lack of a better word) on the inner surface. Any suggestions what I can add to water and let it set for a while to clean it?

I know it's not a big deal since it's only garden water but...

    Bleach will kill algae scrub with a brush let dry before you refill it.

    spray with bleach, rinse with pressure washer.

    vinegar works good on moss? Maybe will work on tank too? I use either on my roof for moss.

    Limit what you use to clean the tank to the items mentioned above, they won't hurt or damage your garden.....in fact they will help it by killing the molds / mildews / fungus if any residue is left in the tank, any harsh cleaning chemical compounds would strictly be a gamble.

    Manual labor, i.e. scrape the scum from the bottoms and the sides. you can bleach as mentioned above, but let it dry out completely then rinse it a couple of times before refilling for use... at this time of year it is a every other day chore for the horses' through and chicken waters. Gardens like animals need good clean water...

    Drain it out and power wash it.

    Household ammonia will clean it .Fill the tank and let it soak for several hours.

    If you can manhandle it with water in it, throw some gravel in it with the bleach and shake it and roll it around. That will loosen up the crud! I am assuming it is a tank with a lid, not just an open barrel.

    Around here, the Amish use high concentration hydrogen peroxide to clean water holding tanks. It's a bit dangerous to handle but is totally safe once used and flushed. I've used it to clean concrete livestock water tanks that get really nasty, mossy, and scummy.

    Ammonia as stated... Put that thing in the bed of a pickup... fill it up 3/4 full and take it for a spin... the water back and forth will clean it out. Then drain it somewhere that isn't going to contaminate .
