Actually my car looks like this with 16" Michelin Defenders. I really like these big Mercs. They ride like a dream. This one isn't great on gas cause it has the "handling package" with factory duel exhaust and 3.55 rear end but that's all good. At 80 mph it is like sitting on a soft leather sofa.

many years ( well at least ten ) I started seeing them in Detroit at the woodward cruse . I remember thinking WTH are they doing to those cars OMG what a train wreck LOL but then I thought about it over time at least they have some common ground with the cars and personalizing them , to there own taste I can not fault any one who likes cars enough to do such to there own cars even if not to my choice of modifying . would I want one no thanks , but to each there own
but it also took a time to adjust to the "rat rod craze " to me at first it was like a excuse to avoid any finish work or paint body work and just have a POS and call it a rat rod ( well that part is still a bit true ) but I have come to enjoy the effort some have put into the rat rods lot of time and money go into most of them now
now to mention low riders , bed draggers or what ever they call them and 4x4's jacked up to the sky . to name a few
but all share the love of cars and trucks like gun owners having a Glock or FIE or high end English double all share the affection of the firearms they may not think so much about each others choices

Hey, if it keeps them busy enough that they are not standing on a street corner exposing themselves, then have at it.

I once owned a 1980 Mercury Grand Marque that I bought just about new back in '82. It was painted yellow and proved itself to be a lemon. Had constant carb problems with that beast but I will admit for a short while I felt like an upper middle class type driving it down the road.

Great old American built, cast iron V-8, rear wheel drive cars are almost a thing of the past.I was admiring about a 1995 Buick Roadmaster station wagon one day last week.Owner had taken good care of it and it looked new.

old station wagons are are hard to find for years demo derby's and lack of interest now they have become a "hot " thing to have in the car world
I would like to have a late like 69 or so chevy wagon with a BBC my neighbor had one when I was a kid back then no way would I have even been seen in it LOL

I had a 1974 Lincoln Mark IV. By far the sweetest, most comfortable car I ever owned. I bought it in 1979 during the oil embargo. I paid $600 for it when no one wanted this type car.

Back in '89 I bought my wife's aunts '77 Chrysler Cordoba. She actually was that little old lady that only drove her garage kept car to church on Sundays! The car only had 24k miles on it then.
My first road trip with it had me cruising along at what felt like the 55 mph speed limit but the state trooper that pulled me over told me I was doing a good 20 over that!! That car had the most comfortable cushy ride I have ever experienced! That and the landau vynal (sp) roof and those Corinthian leather seats made me feel like I was Riccardo Montauban. 😁

The came up with the idea of buying one together and each one got to drive it on alternate days.I think we were making around $4/hr and the car was like $4800.

I remember the great commercial and then seen years about it there is no what they called Corinthian leather just a made up term but it helped sell cars convincing people it was really special

We had a Honda Civic hatchback and we'd drive from Seattle to Spokane and back every weekend, and always arrived frazzled and hectic. So I answered an ad for a 1970 Chrysler New Yorker. $500 and she was mine.
It turned out that's about what it cost in gas to go Seattle-Spokane-Seattle. But there was no more "getting a run at" the pass to make it over the top. 75mph up the pass was effortless as I left all lesser vehicles whirling in my wake. What silent, effortless cruising.

My dad bought the Ford version, a '78 Thunderbird. Light blue with white leather interior. It had a little 2 barrel 302 in it so it took a while to get up to speed but it was like sittin' in a cream puff. The hood was so long on that thing I swear Bpost could have landed his Cessna on it.

back in the day my dad bought a K car from a local dealer who sold new and used it was suppose to have been a demo car used by Chrysler it was a K car white but had the old school metal flake painted panels and color shading / fading . think of the show cars way back when it was a attention getting car he drove it for many years but the paint had started fading and failing ( many years into it ) he ask me if I could repaint it like it was , at the time I had no way to duplicate that look even today I would struggle , and a body shop it would have been 10x what the car was worth he truly loved that car and it served him well I do not remember any real issues with it other than normal tires and tune ups I would hate to guess how many miles he put on it
he traded in in after many years for a mini van all decked out but It was his day in the sun for many years to show it off
