Dizzy out of sorts ? Well .....
Have had problems for the last 6 months Feels like I'm weaving all over. My primary care Doc and I have tried changing different things with medication for months. Nothing helps. Have been using a Cane, (new puppy hates that).
Get a Call from ENT and said your over due for a check up. Ok. Some Hearing loss But still in the Very good range. Mention Vertigo and he says lets try this exercise ,And wow, noticed right away my left eye twitching.
He said the rocks in your head our our of place ???. Simple procedure lying , on my back for about 10 mins and few twists and turns, then he said sit up, and slowly stand up. walk ten steps and turn around .
Whoa, Not a a bit dizzy, Don't Bend over, and don't look up, slow movement of the head for 24-48 hours.
That was yesterday still no dizzy spells.
Wants me in next week to check and re-do procedure if I need It.
Tiny calcium crystals in the chambers of the inner ear get displaced. My Right rear and my Left Ear we fighting each other. (no pain).. Called BPPV.

Yep. Google "Epley Maneuver" and you can do it at home in your own time.

Had vertigo once so severe that I couldn't move for almost three days, went to the ENT and he used the Epley Maneuver, worked like a charm (for a while) when the vertigo came back they sent me for some testing and discovered that the cause was actually a cervical issue in my neck.

I try to do the procedure at least once a week. SURE helps. jp

Had BPPV a few years ago so I know how you felt. I tried the epley maneuver but it did not work for me. I got referral to physical therapist specializing in BPPV. Was cured after only a couple of visits.

Happened to me about 15 or so years ago while I was teaching a class out of state, local folks got me to hospital, and the ER guy was pretty good and called in a specialist, within about 3 hours they were sure it was the "rocks in my head" have come loose and called in a therapist to teach me the exercises, spent 2 days for observation then flew home, did the exercises daily for about 2 weeks and was back to finish the class for the customer, continued to do the exercises for about a year or so but the symptoms never came back. mohawk600 it ain't witchcraft it's a real thing and just hope it never happens to you because it was very scary not being able to see clearly and totally disorientated all because some little things in the inner ear come loose.

Now to get rid of the high pitch frequency ringing in my ears. That started a few years ago.
I've got back ground noise at work and sleep with a sleep bi-pap machine. So don't notice so much then.
Just the time I want to sit and read, or was TV it really gets to me.

Yep if my ears start ringing more then usual its vertigo time. Comes and goes when it wants, Epley doesnt help.

Vertigo can have many causes: medication, disease, otoliths (those rocks), and pinched neck nerves, just to mention a few. The Epley maneuver works for the otoliths, and neck manipulation can work for the pinched nerves. But it takes a vertigo specialist to diagnose the real cause.
Mine was a pinched nerve, and if I tilt my head back to look up, I sometimes get another bout of it.
Vertigo and ear ringing can be related, also. I get a loud bell-like tone immediately before a wave of dizziness sometimes. It's louder and different than my 24/7 ringing, and it gives me some warning that I'm about to stagger or involuntarily lurch sideways.

Glad rthey found the cause RR I went to specialist had cold and hot air blown in ears, spun me around in a ENT chair did cat scan and mri never found any reason. Makes me wonder about thekneck thing though since it is positional mostly

The ER guy diagnosed me pretty quick, by they way my eyes were dilated and constantly moving around very quickly, wasn't funny at the time for me but, every medical person that came by he keep telling them look at this guys eyes... not sure if you had any similar symptoms, but I'm pretty sure that's how they knew is was rocks loose of course they did all the other test like cat scan etc.

If I remember from my AF pilot days, that's called nystagmus (funny the things that pop back after 50 years...)

Glad you got it fixed up. I have migraine induced vertigo. When doctor told me that I would wish i had regular vertigo back . He was 100% right. I don't get it often. But when I do its not just the spinning its a migraine on top. Crystals are way out of wack then.
