Traditional Medicare with supplement or Advantage plan?

As the wife and I get closer to these decisions I was wondering if anyone has found a clear resource that helps with facts and information to make the decision?

    Dawnie did considerable research and got me hooked up with an Aetna supplement policy, and a Part D drug policy, to go along with my regular Medicare. She believed it was the most bang for the buck, and I have no complaints. Main problem is no dental or vision insurance, but I have those through Dawnie's employment.

    Went, with Humana Choice PPO . The Drug coverage, vision, and dental are free. Even has a free plan for exercise and no charge for pre screening .

    We have Blue Cross Blue Shield supplement. We have not chosen Part D for Medicare as supplement covers drug costs.

    There is no handbook to help, as there are too many different plans, different costs for some people, & coverage & cost changes from year to year. You need to find someone local with whom you can share personal information, such as your finances & health issues. If you or your spouse have chronic conditions such as cancer or diabetes, that might be a reason to pick one plan over another.

    Medicare Part D is primarily a scam to give health benefits to those who can't get welfare & don't qualify for Medicaid. If you have low Rx expenses (generally < $4,000/year, you may just break even; if you pay $10,000/year for drugs, it may save you $2,000. That 20% savings should look familiar; it represents the 20% surcharge Americans pay over the world price for drugs from the big drug makers. It's like using coupons at the grocery store; you don't really pay less, the folks without coupons just get overcharged.

    I agree with Neal about Medicare Part D. My wife has diabetes and with the Supplement and discount pharmacy’s drug cost our costs for drugs is still way below the premiums for Part D.

    My daughter is account manager for insurance company. She had her health insurance person explain to me what I needed and why. I had read hundreds of pages and was headed the wrong way. We were on the phone for three hours. You need to talk to an expert.
