It's just a barrel and a pile of parts. It's not a firearm unless there is a receiver, so barrel length- 30 inches or 3 inches, is a non issue.

It’s just a part until you place it in a receiver , then it looks more like a felony unless you have a tax stamp

you also could add a multi choke devise permanently (lyman, cutts, ect) and have a useable barrel

Mark, thanks for info. Unfortunately, they are also in the business of destroying nice collectable receivers. Very sad to me. So, I grab the barrel and related parts, strip out extractor parts, cut barrel in couple of pieces and trash.---------------------------Ray

If you extend/lengthen a barrel to meet minimum 18" requirement what would be a permanent fix to keep ATFD happy? Does it have to be a permanent fix. Seems like a screw in choke is too easy to return barrel to less than 18"?-------------------------Ray

" Seems like a screw in choke is too easy to return barrel to less than 18"?"................some of the adjustable chokes are silver soldered on and considered permanent. or you could do like they do with ar's, flash hider held in place with a 'set' screw and then weld over the set screw.
