just reading about these, one of the things in the glowing article is they produce ZERO emissions. now, i would like to know exactly how that happens. does it come with its own windmill or solar panels to charge the batteries. or like a lot of people seem to think that electricity that comes out of the wall is just magic. maybe the charge cycle is just not figured into the whole emissions equation in the first place and thats how all this green energy works.

I think these type of vehicles have their place. The no emissions marketing is just marketing. Browning markets their semi-auto rifles as BAR's, which they are not. An electric truck could be handy in the right situation. For 1/2 ton folks who use their trucks mostly for daily transportation and occasionally haul light loads an electric truck would work. I thought back in the 80's we where going to build more nuclear power plants and electric vehicles would follow. Didn't work out that way but i thought it was a good idea.

They never consider the fact that most of the electricity used to charge EVs is generated by fossil fuel burning in power plants. Wouldn't make their emissions claims look too good if they did.

Expect a lot of brown outs if EVs take off. We barely have enough power generation now. California is the worst and their grid is already pretty much maxed out. Where I live in Michigan we have multiple power outages every year due to old equipment and occasional severe weather. Better have a fossil fuel backup generator to charge up your green vehicle if you want to go anywhere. It would have made to much sense to build the charging capacity first and then the vehicles. Once again we are doing it assbackwards. Bob

That's the way we develop most things Bob. Necessity is the mother of invention is an accurate statement. If you wait until everything is just right we wouldn't get anything done. I think it would be better to have a fuel powered vehicle as back up, though having a generator is a good idea at anytime.
Basically two things that bother me about electric vehicles is 1) tax subsides, we shouldn't have to carry any cost for both the company that makes them and the people buying them. 2) The marketing, clean, go green, zero emissions etc. But in the end that is just marketing and the vehicle is still what it is.
Vehicles are just tools used for transportation. Electric vehicles are just another option in that line up.

Worksites? I've driven electric forklifts, diesel forklifts and propane forklifts.
I won't drive any more electric forklifts.

If it sells for 45k, it costs the same as a mid 80s, low mileage toyota "barn find". Must be the least expensive new truck on the market!

Looked up the range 314 miles that's in a perfect scenario. About 1/3 of what would get my attention before I would consider it. I'll start considering a electric vehicle when I can drive it all day without out having to stop for 3 recharges in a days driving
