his came in a container that had a lot of Colt 1911 grips, grip screws and bushings. The only marking I see is JAPAN. (I just figured out that the slotted end expands when the knurled end is turned. Might this be a ruptured case tool?

  I can't think what else it could be. looks like bottleneck rifle cartridges and different size rims screw on the end.

  My first thought was to remove dents from a magazine tube.

  Does not look like any that I have used though.

  Trap has it right. It is the arbor for a bore sighting device.
