    I don't have the time or patience to read through 40 pages.

    My unscientific testing indicates that what is commonly referred to as "nitride coating" is far superior to other surface treatments I've used and apparently is one of the cheaper alternatives.

    I think the military has better technology for rapid firing barrels.I can't be sure but some kind of ceramic nanotechnology is possible and Yep here is the link below.

    Unlike topically applied friction reducing liquids, the nano-ceramic (subatomic) particles actually fuse to the metal barrel surface, filling in imperfections and surface irregularities. It will effectively redeposit a cermet coating on worn barrel surfaces, adding measurable microns of ceramic/metallic fusion material to the bore. This will increase back pressure while providing newly incredible consistency in Shot-to-Shot velocity.

    nitride is very good, is not a coating but a treatment that surface hardens and rustproofs the metal, but then you can't chrome line inside the barrel. gotta have my chrome lining.
