UK's meat industry warns CO2 shortage could hit food supplies

However, two of the largest fertiliser producers, Norway's Yara (YAR.OL) and rival CF Industries Holdings (CF.N), have curbed production due to a surge in natural gas prices, which has in turn started to dry up CO2 supplies. read more

Nick Allen, chief executive of the British Meat Processors Association (BMPA), said that once current stocks of the gas run out some meat companies will have to stop taking animals and close production lines, leading to a logjam of animals back to the farms.

Just finished doing the grocery shopping this early afternoon. The price of meat in the store makes me want to get started deer hunting a bit early this year! 😐️

"fertilizer made from oil products but $%^&* is free"

Unfortunately, animal $%^&* doesn't contain all the plant nutrients required for growing crops. And the political $%^&* is totally worthless as fertilizer.

Was at the local farm store and it looks like feed is up quite a bit. Whole corn was 6.39/50 libs is now 9.69. Sweet feed got horses now over 11.

The downstream, most things that use corn - beef through tortillas, milk though eggs and gas will all be going up more.

But,but the Federal Reserve says it will be only transitory in nature and they infer we must cut back on all green house emissions and help all poor nations become sustainable & viable and put that evil genie back in the bottle about nationalism and Enter into The NWO under The United Nations mandates.

We can start here in America with a 3,5 trillion dollars giveaway to help the needy and disadvantage.Who needs to work anymore when the government gives all free benefits and money anyway!

Russia controls The E.U. fate now and the bottleneck begins in force this long cold winter for all as the new green deal kicks in. Protein is now going to skyrocket in my opinion. Beans, butter with fresh meats are going to be in high demand soon with little supply.

Europe's energy crisis has claimed another victim, with Austrian fertilizer producer Borealis AG slashing the output of ammonia after the cost of the primary feedstock, natural gas, compresses margins in an industry already facing tight supplies, according to Bloomberg.

GEEZ, how many semi loads do you want at those prices? I can maybe have a truck lined up within 3-4 days.

I don't think producers are actually selling corn these days. This year's production is going into bins emptied during the high dollar days last summer.

So, here's the way things are looking from the production standpoint: The price of producing corn is so high that profitability is questionable. The option appears to be soybeans. If too many acres shift to SB production, SB prices will drop and corn will continue to rise until either the corn price reaches a level to offer a profit or input prices fall back to a level allowing a profit.

Another wild card is South America. At this point, South America is mainly producing SB and is projected to increase acreage devoted to SB production by 25% or more in the near future. How they respond to lower SB prices if there's a glut on the global market for SB is a question mark.

here when the elevator is full they pile corn on the ground with bunker walls about 6-8' high and long auger the corn in and peak it just before it runs over and then move the auger a short ways...some places end up with piles several hundred feet long.....here the football team drug tarps up and over.....and fertilizer has gone up big time and a neighbor said fall fert for planting wheat was around $760 a ton .....crazy ...neighbor has loaded up with cattle and used his grain for feed and building more bins for on farm storage

Next week, we'll go in to make arraignments for 2022crop year fertilizer and negotiate prices. Due to variability in prices, the amount of fertilizer we buy and apply is most likely going to be lower than previous years.

Locally, there's a big issue with transportation of fertilizer. Since we no longer have a railroad, all inputs must come in by truck and trucks are getting more expensive IF you can get them in a timely manner.
