Shotgun shells

If I use different shotguns I probably have enough to hunt with for 3-4 years. If I go out busting clays not so much.

My buddy in SD couldn't find dove loads out there and ended up finding some Russian ammo online. Interesting enough the seller is only 30 miles from my house here in Indiana. Anyway he said they have been working great doing what they are supposed to do. He told me they are field loads but have a high brass case. The local coon hunters club holds turkey shoots and have been having a hard time getting shells. They found a pallet of the Russian shells and bought them. My Uncle shoots there and told me the shells have been working fine.

I don't know what brand Russian shells they were but just sharing what I was told in case someone finds some Russian shells and wants to give them a try. i did see some wolf brand shells for sale locally but I didn't really look them over as I have shells for the time being.

Of course there are shells available here on GB, thy're high but if I needed some to hunt with I would pony up and go hunting.

    Aren't the dems about to ban Russian ammo imports?

    My shooting club has been having a hard time getting enough shotgun shells this year also. We even had a couple of pallets that we ordered in Jan/Feb cancelled by the manufacturer, (Kent) because they can't get components to make the shells. We did get a couple of pallets of 12 GA target loads in that were made in France. If you see Challenger brand shot shells on the shelf anywhere, don't hesitate to buy them. Well made, clean shooting and bust targets just like Remington, Federal or Winchester. You would think that with Remington back on line ammo will be a little easier to get but I bet we never see the prepandemic prices again. They have found what people are willing to pay and will set their prices accordingly. Bob

    I have a case of Nobel Brand 28ga 1oz. #8 made in Italy. I planed on a SD dove hunting and fishing trip the first week of this month but having the COVID nixed that. I bought these post pandemic start but before prices went through the roof. They preseason what you shoot with a little oregano flavor.

    I have Nobel - Rio - and - Fiocchi in 28 gauge. The 2-3/4 inch - 1 ounce loads are used in the Weatherby and Remington semiautos - the 3-inch - 1-1/16 ounce Fiocchi loads are used in the SXS or O/Us. (Had to talk to them a bunch - but got them to substitute sage for oregano.)
