Miss June is still fighting the fight of her life with this stage 4 lung and spine cancer. She's also fighting her second bout of pneumonia at this time with antibiotics. It's been one year this month that the cancer was discovered after she had just had shoulder replacement due to arthritis.

I still have her hospital bed set up in the living room where she doesn't feel imprisoned in a bedroom. It's been really painful and she takes a boat load of pain meds now. At least we're able to get the medicine now unlike before where we had to beg for it due to the governments crack down on opioid medicine. I give her enough pain meds to control the pain without making a zombie out of her and it's hard to keep the balance just right. If she sleeps to long then the pain returns with a vengeance and if I wake her to give her the medicine she sometimes has a hard time going back to sleep.

She still takes chemo pills everyday that really has her depressed due to what it does to her body such as thin skin and hair loss to name a couple of the worse not to mention nausea that rears it's ugly head from time to time. She's been pretty lucky not to have battled nausea very often this past year on the chemo though.

The tumor in her lung has shrunk down to just a small spot in the MRI but we don't know what it's doing to the cancer in her bones. They removed 2 vertebras in her neck last Oct. and installed a cage with 2 steel rods and screws to take their place. She's already lived longer than the doctors first predicted back last year. Her blood work is almost perfect. The only thing high this last week on her lab test was blood sugar. Her hemoglobin, potassium, etc. and everything else is near perfect. In fact she's healthier than me except for the cancer.

She can still walk with my help. I don't want her to take a chance falling walking by herself again like she did back last December that put her back in the hospital for a week. The loss of balance is due to all the medication she takes. So I help her every where she goes. We use a wheel chair for doctor visits.

I still sleep beside her bed in my recliner. It makes it really tough having to do everything that she needs 24 hours a day. The only time I leave her alone is to go to the pharmacy to get meds and I make sure the next door neighbor is at home before I leave. Thank god for good neighbors. Our neighbor Jeff has mowed our yard and trimmed scrubs for us this year. I think we've both had nervous breakdowns this past year. I've never faced anything like this in my 72 years.

I had a tele/video appointment with my doctor and he prescribed some nerve pills for me. They help some but it's not miracle medicine and if not for the Ambien I would never sleep.

We've not lost our faith we continue to pray for a miracle and we thank all the people that's been praying for us this past year.

You all take it easy and hug your loved ones every chance you get because you just never know when something terrible like this can strike.
