brave or just too willing

when we called for the rescue squad for my wife ( its all volunteer ) the first fellow to show up a young guy maybe very early 20's was certified paramedic but pulled in in his personal pick up truck came in no gloves no mask no PPE started checking all my wife's vitals even used a thermometer we had next to her

he spent at least 10 minutes calling every on on his phones hot list to try and get help and some one to drive over a squad . about 20 minutes passed then slowly more people and a squad showed up all of who were wearing PPE

I told my wife today I hope the young fellow is OK and he did not take it home to his family or friends

I give him credit for just coming in to help risking him self but also think he was a bit over board risking him self and his family by doing so . I know in the excitement its easy to get tunnel vision . and at the time my thought were more on my wife

hind sight I should have at least gave him some gloves and a mask and alcohol wipes all we have well supplied .

just a passing thought while I am sitting here tonight . I do hope the best for him and the others including the staff at the ER , who risk it all

    How’s your wife? Did they take her to the hospital? Seems like young squad people think they are invincible. They want to run every call when they first start out.

    Yes I agree the young fellow was feeling invincible as we all did when young

    as for my Wife she went in by squad spent two nights then sent home only to have us take her back in the next day her 02 levels way too low so another almost two days more in the hospital they sent her home this time and said they released her too early last time set up a oxygen generator and tanks here for her apt 7 days they say to get back to normal her but is dragging and general feels terrible

    My buddy is a paramedic in Macon Georgia. There at his big hospital paramedics are getting a corona bonus of $14 an hour. That is going to be $30 to $40 K annual bonus. And they deserve it, they are the front line troops.

    I would thank the paramedic and a 25 cent chinese mask isn't going to make two cents worth of difference at that time. imo. Gloves would have been first line of defense.

    Brave or just too willing... For some reason this thread title reminded me of a redhead I used to know.

    My hat's off to all the folks that are willing and ready to jump into situations like this. Prayers for all of them.
