For a short time coupe years or so my youngest son got on the fa kick had a MG 42 ,stein. Grease gun of some type MG belt feed browning some other eastern block belt feed guns he reloaded and seekeked out the best deals on components he had a manufacturing licenses so all legal
But too big expenses to f÷d the darn things he sold them all then settled for a 50 bmg semi auto Barrett it's a hand full and fun
FA are fun but for sure toys for people who have money to smoke in a few seconds lol

A neighbor lady asked me last Christmas for a recommendation for her husband for Christmas. I told her to get him a gift certificate for a shooting gallery near us that has full auto play toys. She asked me if 150.00 would be good. I said that it would be good for about 10 seconds of fun. I told her to get a minimum of 500.00 for maybe 30 to 45 seconds of fun . She got him a 1000.00 gift certificate and he thanked me later as he said it lasted for about one and a half minutes before all the ammo was gone. Expensive playing.

I had a dream about full auto stuff a while back but it wasn't fun(ny). Long ago and far, a Swedish K was plan B when the bolt action .308 wasn't the tool of choice or for 'night work' as a back up for the old High Standard suppressed OSS special.
Far too easy to run through a 30 round magazine of 9mm when you only carry 3-4.

I have fired Mac 10's and M16's and that was ok but I am more a make every bullet count kind of guy. I had a friend who had a MG42 and that was a completely different animal. I don't care about an AR15 on full auto but that 8mm belt fed beast was fun. I can see why our guys hated them so much during WWII. I would like to try a M2 Browning sometime.

I thought they were awesome but in reality it was the fear factor that resulted when those big slugs started throwing up chunks of mud, sod, and debris and/or chewing up fortified positions. It was 'duck and cover' time for the opposing team. M-60 was far better for anti-personnel. Didn't consider FA in the M-16 to be effective.

There's a gun store here that's putting on a machine gun shoot pretty soon. My wife and I were in there a couple years ago and they have a Dillon Aero that they let my wife get a picture with. She sent it to her Chief and said she wanted one for her patrol car. He texted her back and said to "put it in a requisition and we'll see what the city manager says!"
They are going to allow folks to shoot it at the MG shoot so I stopped in to see what it would cost. I wanted to get her some time on it as a retirement gift. $250 for a hundred rounds! I figured that'd last about 2 seconds. Pass!

Definitely fun. Definitely expensive.

Three years ago we went to a range close by San Antonio. One could rent fully auto weapons for the cost of the ammo they sold at $1.00 a round. On "Machine Gun" Mondays it was half price. I am sure those days are long gone. It was a lot of fun and they didn't mind if one picked up the brass.
