Shortages? Rationing?
My last trip to Costco was a couple weeks ago. Noticed their bottled water (I try to keep about 40-50 gallons on hand) was limited to two 40 packs. Toilet paper was gone, but all paper products were also limit of two.
Are folks prepping for the coming lockdowns??

Was told all the Gatorade has vanished from the shelves, going to the border for the "visitors"

Stores around here are about 3/4 stocked with varies items not available at any given time. I can see things going south in a week or in the fall or whenever the inevitable happens. Imo only, the way these complete frauds runs or I should say don’t run the government how can something very tragic not happen.

It made the news that Costco was starting the rationing again. Perhaps that is a sneaky way of diving more sales. Judy and I do the shopping for a couple of organizations and today we found plenty of supplies at our local Sams club. They do have signs for limits on some paper products but seemed to have a full stock of most everything on the floor.
A good friends son is the store manager at one of the local Kroger grocery stores. His complaint is that there aren't enough truck drivers to reliably get the products to his store. To compound the problem, he can't find enough people that want to work so when he does get a delivery he only has half the people needed to stock the shelves. Hopefully the feds stopping the extra unemployment payments today will fix those problems. Bob

I am in Central Texas and there is no rationing going on here. The only shortages were because of everyone shopping for Labor Day.......the customers were killing us in the meat market. It was a brutal weekend.

Production is down for lack of workers, but the main cause is shipping, massive shortage of truck drivers.

Well Rocky, I was just making a simple observation and asking a question. The only person who used the "c" word in the entire thread was you. I'm seeing things similar to what I saw over a year ago and curious if it was an anomaly or if it might be more widespread. Mask mandates, forced social distancing and reduced occupancy in places of business are, again, becoming the norm in many jurisdictions. Sounds like it's not the case in romneyland. I'm glad for you.

Local stores are limiting water, and some paper products, haven't seen any empty shelves though. As for the alien thing, and t/p shortages, they're probably coming from Uranus....

I noticed the big Toyota dealer in a nearby town has very few vehicles for sale.

My wife went to the grocery this morning and said a lot of things were out of stock. She said all the toilet paper was gone. Then she got to the end of the aisle and they had jumbo packages for sale for $30. So she bought a package.
We should be able to wipe butts for the next 5 years at least.

Okay, I hadn't bought some things for months now as I am generally well stocked. I stopped at the local Dollar Store to buy paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent and few other things I thought could be in an issue down the road if inventory got limited. I figured prices had went up but was a bit surprised how much. Inflation is here.

BTW, While it seemed everything was in stock there was quite a bit of empty shelf space.

As I understand it, there is a lot of trouble getting things trucked to there destination, shortage of drivers, shortage of people to load the trucks and so on. I have decided to buy two when I only need one. Some may call it hoarding, I call it stocking up. My advise is stock up now while you can. After seeing how JB Pritzer of Illinois panicked every one 18 months ago, I seen how long it takes for stores to run out of things.

Made it back to Costco yesterday. Had some TP (limit 1) and lots of water (limit 2). Used separate lines to check out so the wife and I could buy a limit of both. Trying to stay prepared. Won't need more TP for a week or so. ☺️

I went to my doctor last Thursday and he called in a prescription to my local Walgreens. They usually have it ready within 24 hours, then send me a text.
I was in town yesterday and even though I hadn’t got a text, I decided to stop by to see if my script was ready. The pharmacy was closed at 4:00. I asked a girl inside what was up. She said they hadn’t had a pharmacist for the last two days.
My prescription can wait, but I thought about all the people who need their meds and couldn’t get them.

If you use both sides you can double that to 10 years.
If you run it through your washing machine, you should be able to extend the life.
You might have to use the "delicate" cycle and cold water.
NOTE: I have NOT done this myself, so you are on your own . . . if you try it.

Your statement about prescriptions hits home. For many years, much to my wife's shegrine, I was what somewhat of a prepper. Nothing extravegant, no bug out plan, nothing like that. Just enough extra to be comfortable for 6 months or more. I have had a really bad back since '94 and have to take a lot of pain meds just to function. If I miss a few days, aside from the withdrawal symptoms which are horrid, my pain levels skyrocket. Then, one day it hit me. I wouldn't want to live longer without having an equivalent amount of pain meds. The ones I take supposedly already have a street value of $10-$25 each. I can't imagine what they would cost in a collapse situation. So, now I basically have enough "prep" that corresponds with my meds. Thankfully things have been more stable the past few years than they had the previous 20 so I have slowly squirreled a few away to get me by for a short undisclosed time-frame if needed.
Back to the greater topic at hand, I find it humorous those that feel the need to stock up on toilet paper. What did the human race do before TP? Drag their butt across the floor like a dog? 😂

A wash cloth designated for just that one thing only works just fine. Get it wet and your bum will be squeaky clean.
Fussy folks who go nuts about TP shortages have never cleaned bathrooms or toilets in particular. Believe me.....S.H.I.T. washes off and good soap and hot water makes your hands fine for finger licken chicken! 🙂

I guess that I'm fortunate that (at least in the late fall) as I'm good since I live across from about 100 acres of a corn field. It takes a little while for the calluses to form though.

Just make sure you store up enough to get you thru until the next crop.....😉
Oh, and maybe stick with the small kernal/cobb ones..
