    im old school so 7500 is as far as i will go for now. i want to believe that people who are in the oil business would rather sell more product so they would keep the oil change interval shorter., so maybe they are right and oil and filters can go that far.

    I use Mobile One Extended and M1 filters. Cost me about 35.00 if I shop around and another $20.00 for the service and I have a mechanic who does mine, not some three whisker kid who is learning on my engine. Most of my driving is highway and usually over 20 miles so the engine gets warm enough to cook out the moisture so I am comfortable going 7,000 miles between oil changes. I just bought this car so next week the transmission pan is coming off and a new factory filter and Valvoline full syn. fluid is going back in. The rear diff has new fluid. No way would I ever want to go over 7,000, I don't care what the bottle or some computer says.

    I quit changing the oil / filter in our vehicles some years back. I have a place that does it for $16.99. They use semi-synthetic oil.

    But, I do my own when it comes to my BMW m/c. I've been using Mobil 1 in it since it's 1st oil change. Since it has a dry clutch and the transmission is separate from the engine, the engine oil doesn't get nearly as contaminated as much.

    I also use Mobil 1 in the transmission and the final drive as well.


    What shop changes oil and filter for 17 bucks?

    It protects against states not having Class 3's

    I change the Honda when oil life says 10% the Nissan manual says every 5000.

    I used Mobil 1 in my Nissan truck since it was new.I looked at the mileage today and it was 499,860 miles.

    Oil gets changed to flush out the accumulated debris and chemicals the filter cannot remove. You don't change it because the oil wore out.

    Supertech Advanced full synthetic says its good for 20k miles @ $18.98 for 5qts.

    Both of my vehicles use mobile 1 full synthetic, a gas car and a diesel truck. Both are set for 10,000 mile oil changes and no problems with the car or truck.

    I didn't realize Mobil 1 had a diesel classification.
