I'm looking at a Model 1816 bayonet that I have and believe to be an original. Mine is stamped "US" in small font in roughly the location where your's has the punch mark. Below the "US" are two other characters that I cannot makeout what they are. They appear to be two numbers (Year?) but I'm not sure. The dimensions you list are quite close to those on mine.

Thanks for the information. The punch mark is a mystery right now.

It looks original to me. I've had unmarked bayonets and even an unmarked Model 1816 flintlock musket. These were generally made by subcontractors.

That is what I was leaning towards. Military was looking for bayonets and didn't care who made them. Thanks for the reply.

    It's British.

Any chance you can provide an internet address or link that would confirm your information? I am just trying to document (historically) what I actually have. Thanks.

If you can't find it here: https://worldbayonets.com/Bayonet_Identification_Guide/bayonet_identification_guide.html Email Ralph with pics. If he can't ID it, unlikely you'll find anyone that can.
