Refusal to send FFL + Not Responsive
I recently held my first auction and sold my firearm on the 19th of Aug. It took about a week and 4 messages + the non paying bidder notice to get payment which did clear. I am now waiting for the FFL. Another week has gone by with no responses to my messages or willingness it seems to take ownership of the winning.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is it typical to have to wait weeks on end for buyers to respond?

MY personal policy is you have 30 days to provide me an FFL to ship the weapon to once the payment clears or you forfeit the weapon. Otherwise, I'd consult an attorney.

Yes, it does happen, good thing you have payment. Ball is in his court again, you can just dribble and wait with no whistle to blow from his side.
On a side note, I wish people who sell firearms or anyone here who mentions firearms call them that instead of "weapons."
Just a pet peeve of mine. A pencil could be a weapon but I don't call it that.

I sold a Raven .25 twice, because the first purchaser never sent the FFL, and when I asked for it, he responded, "What's a FFL?"

like Numm said, I sold a rifle some time back, got payment but no FFL. I waited a year and sold the rifle again.

It's likely that he found that he needs a new dealer, & failed to keep you informed.
You have only 45 days to file an NPB. Let the bidder know that you will have to subtract your listing fees from any refund he may be due if you don't get a copy of his dealer's FFL by then.
If he's just a "lay away" customer who wants you to wait until he saves enough money to pay for the firearm, charge him 10% per month holding fee.

It is the buyer's responsibility to get their FFL to send a copy, you do not have to chase down the dealer. The buyers need to do this.....if not for any other reason than to let them know what the hold up is.

Thanks all for the feedback. I did have a clause in my auction on a restock fee for refuse to pay or refuse to receive item. So I guess I am covered in that regard. I like the 30 day idea on forfeit of the weapon. I will communicate that and I guess go from there.

in the Army that I was in my Garand was called a "Weapon". Not a gun, not a firearm. It was called a 'Weapon". Two things you never forget, Your Army Serial Number and your Garand is a "Weapon"----------------------------Ray

Old military habit. If is a rifle, weapon, piece. Guns are limited to shotguns, machineguns and cannon.
As far as appeasing the snowflakes by not calling it a weapon- you could call it Princess Bubblegum, they will still be offended.
