Ending Auction Early

I just noticed that someone that listed item can opt to "end item early" under the "options" tab. How does this work? Can this be done even if there has been a bid?

    Not any longer. If the auction has a bid it cannot be closed early.

    Once upon a time, you could.

    Suppose the bidding got to a point that you, as seller, are satisfied with the price. The bidder had bid all he's going to, and there are still several days to go on the auction. Bidder contacts you and asks you if you will be happy with the current high bid. If you agree, then you could end the auction early.

    A long time ago, you could also contact the bidder first, but that went away too.

    So now, what you can do in a situation like that is use the Buy Now option. Bidder contacts seller and makes an offer. If the offer is acceptable to the seller, the seller can set a Buy Now price in that amount, the bidder can hit it, and the deal is done.

    I think that most of the time, ending an auction early will cost the seller money. Many bidders wait until the auction is nearly completed to place their bid. You have nothing to gain if you were to end an auction early & you may lose a lot.

    There are legitimate reasons to end an auction early, whether or not there are bids: you learn that what you listed is not accurately described, or gets lost or stolen after you have listed. Getting that straightened out today will prove difficult.

    Thanks for the advise guys. I currently have a lot of ten FN 5.7x28 50 round magazines listed on the auction side with a high bid of $5.25 for the lot. I hate to sell these for $0.52 each but may have to, and just chalk this up to experience. 😒

    I think my problem was that my heading was AR 15 FN 5.7 50 round magazine. I should have used FN PS90/P90. Can I edit this listing?

    Nope, not once you have a bid. You can add to the description. I have no use for these mags but I did just bump you up over $100.00. Good luck!!!

    I think items that are searched for will come up if the words are in the description, even if not in the title.

    Your listing title is the issue. I mean you have to really cover the bases with wording or they won't be found. Don't ask me how I know.🤐
