The Hi-Point customer service topic got me thinking about my Hi-Points!!
Looking at a Hi-Point almost hurts my eyes and holding one in my hand kind of makes think of that old joke about big girls, you know, they sure are a lot of fun but you don't want your friends to see you with them!!
A think Hi-Points serve a purpose, at least to me. I will put a Hi-Point in places where I would never place a very nice handgun. Places like on my work bench, under a rag, rattling around in my sons PU or in my car or bouncing around in my wife's cars trunk. Even banging around in my tackle box. I place Hi-Points in places where just maybe I might need to be armed. I hate to admit it but I don't always remember to drop my S+W 642 in my pocket. My Hi-Points make sure I usually have a weapon near by.
I haven't shot my Hi-Points a lot but I have yet to have any of my Hi-Points not go bang when I pull the trigger. Accuracy is completely acceptable. They shoot angle of center mass all day long and have the extra benefit of if you run out of ammo they are heavy enough that you've got a great club!! 😂
Recently I heard someone say he sure wished he had a 40. Almost as a joke I said I'll sell you a 40. How much was the question? I said $275. He said here is $275. (You could have knocked me over with a feather)! So now I'm down a Hi-Point but that is OK as I don't do a good job with anything bigger than a 9 anymore. I think I paid $129 for that 40 a few years ago. So I guess I'm in the market for 1 or 2 more 9's.
So what's not to like?? They go bang and hit what you are shooting at and on top of this you can resell them at a profit!! 😁

You just might be the first person in history to ever to use Hi-Point and fantastic guns in the same sentence!! 🤣
The way I use them I rate them as an excellent tool but that's all. It is hard for me to get past the fugly appearance and the clunky feeling in my hand. But if I ever had to pick one up to use for self defense I believe fugly or not it would get the job done. Which I guess is really all that counts.
The fact they are really cheap and also have good customer service are major positives.

...That's how I feel about the Ruger P90 .45acp that I keep in the truck console, would never throw one of my Colts into that dark hole...my console is kinda like that one kitchen drawer that has EVERYTHING in it...

Why pay stupid money for a Gloke, when a High Point is the exact same gun, with better customer service, and cheaper?
I digress. I have the feeling someone will need a trophy for the mean words I just typed.

I see them often at the range mostly with new people buying guns for the first time. Most new shooters have favorable experiences with them. A number of women are buying them. People are able to put rounds in the black and they are dependable.
For a budget gun you can depend on for self defense, HiPoints are far superior than anything Tawrus.
Yeah they are ugly, but they work.

They serve a purpose . Not everyone who needs a pistol.can afford a 5 or 6 hundred dollar gun . They are ugly ,blocky and weird looking. They shoot ! If they break they fix it ,no questions . Whats not to like ?

i gotta admit i really enjoy, and son/grandson enjoy it too, and that is shooting the Hi-Point carbine i have in 40 S&W probably have sent near 1000 rounds down the pipe and nary a hiccup in the bunch. 1 FT load because a cartridge was jimjammed up a little. just wish magazines held more, my only complaint

I bought one of the original Hi Point carbines in 9mm. Fun gun to plink with. Then a few years ago I bought a .45 carbine. It is also fun to plink with. No problems with either one. I also wish they had extended magazines.

Best thing about a HiPoint its warranty for life. As a dealer I get alot of used ones in bad shape. I send them back. A few weeks later, back in new shape. All test fired an in a box marked rebuilt. The function well with most ammo.

I had an acquaintance that opened a gun store in his shop. I bought a gun from him, then a few weeks later I found out that he was buying High Points, then selling them to individuals in Detroit without the proper documentation. He was sent to prison. I don't know if he is still there or not.

I have been thinking about one of the Hi-Point carbines as a defensive house gun. I will concede I'm trying to decide on if I should get a 9, 40 or 45 ACP. I can't make up my mind on the best caliber to get.
