Got an estimate for a gutter guard to keep the debris out of my buildings gutters. I won't mention what company but let me say it was considerably more than expected. Needless to say for a building 42' long 84' of gutter guard was 3150 dollars. After speaking for a while the price was dropped to 2469. Still nonsense to pay that much. No clue this was so expensive.

    For comparison, I just had 40 feet of new 6” gutter put on my carport for $384.

    Great idea, great product. Grossly over priced. Need a few more copy cat companies to come in and make the price come down.

    You can buy stainless screens for less than 250 dollars and install them or pay someone to. Do a good job installing and you won't need to deal with them for years depending on tree limb damage and such.

    This stuff is inexpensive. Can be installed by the homeowner. Never tried it but the Saturday morning radio show dude (At Home with Gary Sullivan) likes it and endorses it. 84' would cost about $259, looks like.

    Had gutter helmet on the house until my metal roof was damaged in a hail storm. The insurance wouldn't cover replacing the gutter helmet to match the new roof but would pay for standard perforated aluminum covers for the gutters. They work O.K. but no where near as good as the gutter helmet did. I priced what 56 feet of gutter helmet would be for the detached garage and decided to try gutter guard stainless mesh instead. $150 bucks and about 3 hours of my time worked out to less than 10% of the gutter helmet quote. Time will tell if I made the right choice. Bob
