We have some very big and purty Luna Moths around here, but I have never seen anything close to the one pictured. Would like to know what kind it is!

Actually Polyphemus, the giant son of Posidon. One of the larger Saturnid moths in the US. The family Saturnidae includes the luna, the cecropia, the hickory horned devil and the black witch moth.

Found a female yesterday morning on the ground (thinner antennas) about 5" across? The one pictured is a boy. Never seen the caterpillars, though.
