Immersion blenders have their place but I'd go with this:
I'm sure it can blend cod, too.

…I have a KitchenAid immersion blender & a counter top blender…the KA is great for blending small 2-4 cup amounts, works great & saves time not having to clean a regular blender…Hamilton Beach regular blender, works fine, best for larger amounts, malts etc… BUT, its plastic not glass, feels cheap & the plastic makes it really LOUD when blending ice, nuts etc…the bottom blade unit doesn't come off so its hard to clean…next time I'll make sure the blender is glass & the blade part comes off…both types have their uses…

Ole Dan Akroyd can not only blend them up with the best of them but can also hum the blues quite well too!
I've also noticed that he has the gifted hands of Julia Childs, especially when he debones a chicken!!😁

Wife uses her "stick" blender many mornings to make a smoothie breakfast, but relies on the heavy-duty food processor for big jobs. A blender would be a middle ground machine between the two. Not many people would need all three, so you may want to consider the small and large option.

I thought the regular store bought immersion blender would be weak so I thought maybe a commercial kitchen grade? Haven't checked the price so that would make me stay on my porch. Maybe I'll stick to tried and true.
