    Breeding toms regularly exceed 50 lbs nowadays. Too large to procreate naturally , all hens are breed by AI ..Mind you someone one has to " milk" the toms and another fortunate individual has to inseminate the hen . This is done manually by blowing the semen into the hen via a plastic straw .

    Hello butterball folks I have that big turkey in a covered up pit..like cooking a hog... how longs does it take.. I needs to know cause I am running out of beer.

    I would gladly take on 3 or 4 12 pounders over anything that big! Keeping it moist and tender would be difficult.

    Warlords, I never raised turkeys but did raise broiler / fryer type chickens for 30 years . Butterball turkeys is located in my county . One of my post retirement jobs has been to install and repair equipment in the turkey house .
