Yes. we used to go to local small store that had a candy counter. For 10 cents you could fill a small paper bag. Many items were 2 or more for a penny.

I also remember TV and Radio commercials saying smoking was good for you. When I was a young kid everyone smoked and I couldn't wait to get old enough to smoke too.

I'm trying to remember a candy bar from way back. It was shaped like a truncated pyramid, about 1.5 inches square and maybe 3/4" tall. Came in plain chocolate or with raisins. Anybody?

Yep, smoked a few of them and if I remember they had very little taste.
Store owner would sell a nickle bag of scrap/broken stick candy. Bag held at least a pound. Yummy.
One store owner, remember these stores were the first 7/11's, 7 feet wide and 11 feet long, would give a set up or bonus for paying your monthly tab. One lady came in and asked "how much is my bill"?
Owner got a dozen doughnuts and laid them on the counter for the set up. Lady was shopping for something when she said" I want to pay half of my bill". Owner gently slipped the doughnuts under the counter. That was funny right there.

My local small town drugstore still sells candy cigarettes! They also have bubble gum cigars! 😁

Rocky, IMMIC, and I am short a few brain cells from years ago, but originally the Chunky was just one square slab of chocolate. The picture shows what they look like today. Yes, they are still making them.

Maybe that's it then. Chunky bar. I sure did like those.
Have a whole bag of Snickers left from Hollow Weenie. I eat one a day - about the only candy I eat in the year. I don't have a sweet tooth and avoid sweets usually. I just can't see wasting these little Snickers.

as a kid I remember other kids imitating the adults smoking with the candy version and of course just about every one did smoke especially movies and TV shows . do a search even the Beverly hillbillys did commercials for smoking heck even the flintstones had smoking commercial's . when I was younger our house looked like a rolling fog moving thru on the weekends when the family would play cars together 😮 I did try when I was 18 or or so as all my buddy's smoked thank goodness I just never liked it now every one of them have passed on ( RIP to bunch of great friends ) all from cancer , I am the last of the group and I think not smoking saved me ( I did smoke some pot but that was a very short time also )

will add any one remember the candy neckless the hard disc on a string nothing like having a sweaty string of candy mixed with dirt hanging around a kids neck to eat as the day goes on just seen they still make those also 😝

I remember the "dancing cigarette pack" -- seemed a bit dumb to me at the time, a pair of lady's legs sticking out of a oversized cigarette pack. Maybe I was just too young.🙄
I also remember when the Surgeon General's report on smoking and cancer came out. I was in middle school and several teachers tried to quit cold turkey and it was an interesting few days. 😄

I remember going to the local one gas pump station , Ernie Norman ( bout 300 years old ?)? owned it .
We would ride up there to buy candy and sodas ( in glass bottles ) , all my buddies bought candy , I bought Halls cough drops and a Sprite ??? What a strange taste ???
With a hand full of change ( from selling glass soda bottles ) , we could get gas for our mini bikes and candy and a soda ???
I guess those where the days ?

Chunky bar was twice the bar it is now. Every thing is shrinking. Remember going to the local Isley factory an watching them make ice cream. could buy a clondik for 10cents. If you had a pink heart in side wrapper you got a whole package of 6 for free., Now those same ice cream bars are have as thick. As kids we all used to hit the alleys behind the bars an pick out the returnable bottles an check the ash cans for change. Sundays was a gold mine. Bars were closed then. Everything was closed on Sundays except church.

I loved those. There were a couple of different versions, different fillers. Why did 7-Up not sue them? They had the name first- as Seven Up, not 7-Up. No longer in business. Closest you can get to them is sold at Cracker Barrel- the Sky Bar- 4 different sections.
